Overview

Jack and Stephanie. When they found each other, their lives were empty and their hearts were as well. It took love and strength and passion for them to come together and create the bond that helped form their family of choice.

Now, in an instant, it all fell apart.

Jack and Stephanie were solid. They were the anchors. They were the couple who were strong and who everyone else leaned on.

They had a beautiful and spunky daughter and a son on the way. They had survived the trials and tribulations a new marriage can bring and they were the epitome of strength and love. Their future was shining the brightest.

When they went to the bank that morning to support their family, they could never have imagined the horror they would face.

The gunshot, the blood, and the moment everything changed.

Who is Jack without his heart and soul? How can Sabrina grow up without a mother? How will this family survive?

And just what was in the safe deposit box?

For Jack and Tommy and Bill, it’s about protecting those they love. It’s about ending the threats once and for all. It’s time to settle the score.

I was waiting for this one to be available on the NOok but I was able to read it on my iPad. I loved it and am so glad there will be another book in June. The characters continue to move me and the struggles and love they experience are so real. Beautiful story!

    Darkpool's Promise ~ Chapter 1

It was a beautiful day in green~leaf in StormClan. The sun was shining, and no clouds were in the sky. The rocky hills of StormClan's camp were abundant with kits, especially near the elder's den, because one of the elders, a white tom named Whitepelt, was telling the story of StormClan.
"Long ago, in a forest far, far away, there were four Clans."
"What were their names?" A brown and black striped shekit asked.
"I'm getting to that, Amberkit, so don't interrupt," Whitepelt told her. "In a forest, among bracken and brambles, lived BrambleClan. Alongside a rapid river lived SeaClan, and nearby, on a grassy moor, was SunClan. And in a large forest, by a trickling stream, was BlazeClan."
Firekit, a tiny red tom, curiously asked, "Which Clan did we come from?"
Whitepelt sighed. "Stop interrupting or I won't continue." When he had the kits full attention, he continued. "One day, a large storm swept across the Clans' territory. Both forests were destroyed, and many cats died. BrambleClan and BlazeClan were forced to move, and Twolegs came like fleas on crowfood."
The kits all gasped in horror.
"At the next Gathering, Bluestar of SeaClan said that the Clans, still recovering from the storm, could not possibly go on a Great Journey. We learned that night that Bluestar, Copperstar of SunClan, Cloudstar of BlazeClan, and Silverstar of BrambleClan had been meeting to discuss this topic before we even knew."
"So did they move?" A small, rich dark brown kit asked Whitepelt.
"Darkkit, just listen to the story. Anyway, Cloudstar was too proud to leave their territory. He threatened Silverstar, Bluestar, and Copperstar that, if they decided to move, he would follow and attack. They all knew that BlazeClan had the least amount of losses. Strangely, Silverstar and Bluestar mysteriously disappeared just before the journey."
"What happened?"
"Stop interrupting. No one knows. Coppererstar, greedy for power, took over BrambleClan and SeaClan. At mooonhigh, a few cats from BrambleClan and SeaClan escaped and came here. Because their leader was a gray tom named Stormwater, and to recognize the storm that had caused this, they called their new Clan StormClan. And StormClan we are, despite intruders settling near us. They call themselves IceClan, but we have reason to suspect that they are really BlazeClan in disguise."
Whitepelt sighed. "I wish I knew what happened to Silverstar."
"Why?" Darkkit asked.
"Because she was my mate."

Blizzardstar watched the kits and Whitepelt from a distance, sitting with his mate, Blueflower. "Darkkit, Rainkit, Fallenkit, and Songkit look like they're enjoying themselves," he purred.
Blueflower smiled at him.
"Blizzardstar, they love hearing stories of the ancient times. Every cat does."
Blizzardstar reached over and licked her. "Blueflower, that's because it's a legacy. Someday, we might actually go back to see what happened."
"Yes... we are strong enough, Blizzardstar."
The momentary peacefulness of the camp was startled by a cat shrieking, "IceClan has attacked!"

((( So how do you like this chapter? Please spread the word if you like it. Character applications go at 'elaria' res 1.
