this book has a lot of info for anyone with a thyroid problem from diet to exercise to examples
I've read MANY thyroid books and Mary Shomon writes with out prejudice to one treatment option or another. I appreciate her "find what works for you" approach. She also shares a ton of great information on supplements and food.
I was very interesting in what she had to say about vitamins and understanding hypothyroidism. I was informed about hashimoto disease which I was recently diagnosed with and then was informed by her book that most hypothroid is hashimoto disease. It went with the information I received years ago from a book by DR.Broda O. Barnes an early pioneer in his research on this subject and compiled with what she said. I was told years ago understand what you have and what will be good for you to help yourself with. I was hoping to find something new on what diet to follow but she offered nothing I didn’t know already know. Excellent book for new hypothyroid people and to update for us who have been this way for many years.
This is an easy to understand & informative book on thyroid issues. Since I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism two months ago I have significantly changed my diet based on some things suggested in this book as well as many others I have recently read. The only thing that was of concern when reading the book was that the author is still taking thyroid medication despite diet suggestions. I realized that many people have to be on thyroid medication as well as watching their diet but it would have been helpful for the author to share more about her situation. I have read many other books on gluten free and thyroid issues which are helpful also.
