Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The clock is ticking and the kids are scurrying around mopping and picking up things, but there does not seem to be any reason for all this activity—until Mom arrives home and we find out why the kids worked hard to make the house clean and tidy. The text is comprised of simple sentences, words that rhyme, and repetition. There are two activities at the end of the story, one for making a clock, and another for a race where two kids are tied together and must work as a team. Part of the story is supposed to demonstrate that success in cleaning up a mess is due to teamwork among all the kids. The text is so simple that it is closer to a pre level 1 reader, but the activity for making the clock may require some adult assistance. There is also a brief blurb about the illustrator. A Level 1 book in the "Green Light Readers" series.
