Overview

Kate Yager never had a father, and she never minded - until her mom died. Now, acting on the name called out on her mother's deathbed, Kate has moved to San Francisco and gotten herself hired by the man she suspects to be her dad. As if a new job, new apartment, and new parent weren't enough, Kate finds herself head-over-heels in lust with a complete stranger she met at an art show. A stranger who, she later finds out, happens to work in her office.

As her relationships with her friends and father grow stronger, Kate has to confront the decisions of her past to find out whether she can love the man who gave her up, love the man who loves her truly, and even whether she can love herself.

Meet the Author

Heather Huffman writes romantic suspense with strong female leads who refuse to lose hope. Though her stories never shy from looking into the world’s darker corners, they don't dwell there. Heather shares with her resilient heroines a passion to make a real difference and so donates a portion of her book royalties to organizations that fight against human trafficking.

Heather was born and spent her childhood in Florida but now calls the beautiful state of Missouri home. Her greatest joy, when not writing, is to hit the road with her three boys for adventures unknown.

Heather is the author of Throwaway, Jailbird and Suddenly a Spy. You can find out more about her writing and her charitable work on www.heatherhuffman.net.

Ok, so I previously said that Jailbird was my favorite book from Heather Huffman so far, but I gotta change it to Ties That Bind. I really didn't want to put it down. My favorite type of books are romantic suspense, and this book delivered. Can't wait for more books from Heather Huffman, I just hope that they will be free also

I cannot believe that all four of Heather Huffman's books are free. I thought every one of them was excellent. This is a very nice love story.

If you like romance novels, you might like this book. The development of the love between Kate and Gavin is the main focus. However, even this story line seemed to wander, as the author added too many details of Kate's day to day life that really weren't needed. The inclusion of the Justin character seemed to promise some added excitement to the story. Unfortunately, the build-up to the clash between Gavin and Justin was scanty, and the confrontation between Kate and Justin was a mere page or two, followed by the rest of the novel describing her evolving relationship with Gavin. As a romance story it was ok. As an exciting adventure I would have given it just 1 star. I wondered to myself many times why I was still reading the book.

It's 3:45 am and I just finished this book, in one sitting! Got this one for free and I have three more already downloaded. The author takes you into Kate's world so effortlessly and all the characters develop into real people very quickly. Can hardly wait until I take my son to school tomorrow so I can start the next one!!! Robin Cook (not the author - I love his books, too)

Girl meets guy, girl really likes guy, girl tries to push guy away and fight her feelings for him for no apparent reason. So overdone and boring. The storyline is all over the place! Daddy issues, dream job, random stalker, boyfriend dealing with his own mothers cancer, finding she owns half a vineyard ( but there is no emotion behind that ) two women met at dream job that become her instant BFF's that she cant live without, yet you as the reader dont know when that happened...so many lines in this story, that the reader is left a bit confused and annoyed. Some books stay with you. You invest in characters that live in your memory. This is not one of those books. The star is for the dog...

This book was not my favorite of Heather Huffman's; like other reviews said, the heroine is a little annoying. However, it is still exciting enough to keep you turning the pages, and it's free. So give it a try--her other free books "Throwaway" and "Jailbird" are the best, followed in my opinion by "Suddenly a Spy" (a little more action than this one).

I normally read murder mysteries, but like to mix it up, and Ties That Bind was a great choice. I enjoyed the storyline and didn't want to put it down, and having babysitting duty this past week for my grandchildren...only put it down for them..ending up finishing it at 3am.It was well worth it...

Heather Huffman does it again! In Ties That Bind, Heather Huffman puts out another perfect romance novel with just the right amount of background detail, adventure, intrigue, and steamy romance scenes. The main female character, Kate Yager is young enough to still be a beauty, but old enough to have experienced most of life's ups and downs. At thirty-two years of age, this is the perfect time for Kate to marry and begin a family, but settling down is the furthest thing from her mind as she sets out to build a relationship with the father she never knew as a child. Gavin Nichols walks into Kate's life and her place of employment as an up-and-coming trendsetting photographer. He has what it takes to climb over Kate's defensive emotional and mental walls, but first he has to show her that she is worth his love. Find out about Kate's strange childhood, her efforts to find and befriend her absent father. Read about how Kate discovers she is heir to a famous vineyard and how she eventually falls head over heels for Gavin Nichols after a hair-raising, life changing event. Readers of romance books will enjoy this superb read. I give this wonderful book a rating of three stars. ************************************************* How I choose my star ratings: 1 = Groaner. Probably didn't even finish it. 2 = Yawner. Poorly written or weak story. 3 = Recliner. Sat back in my cozy chair and enjoyed the read. 4 = Page Turner. Hard to put down. Well-written cohesive story. 5 = Keeper. A story that stays with me. Excellent reference material.
