The bouncy "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" will surprise all listeners with its beat as well as the rippling solos on fiddle, steel guitar, and electric guitar, and the stomping "Sun Bonnet Sue" is worth the price of the CD. This volume also has Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys stretching out on an old blues, "Sitting on Top of the World" yes, the same number later played by Cream, and roaring through the guitar and fiddle showcase "Big Beaver," which gets into some scintillating pyrotechnics all around the band. This is very much the country side of Western swing, but dressed up in the kind of virtuoso playing that one more often associated with light jazz, and the fidelity is astoundingly good for mid-'40s transcription discs.
