Meet the Author

Marion Zimmer was born in Albany, New York, on June 3, 1930, and married Robert Alden Bradley in 1949. Mrs. Bradley received her B.A. in 1964 from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, then did graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1965-67. She wrote everything from science fiction to Gothics, but is probably best known for her Darkover novels. In addition to her novels, Mrs. Bradley edited many magazines, amateur and professional, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's FANTASY Magazine, which she started in 1988. She also edited an annual anthology called SWORD AND SORCERESS for DAW Books. She wrote a novel of the women in the Arthurian legends—Morgan Le Fay, the Lady of the Lake, and others—entitled MISTS OF AVALON, which made the NY Times bestseller list both in hardcover and trade paperback, and she also wrote THE FIREBRAND, a novel about the women of the Trojan War. She died in Berkeley, California on September 25, 1999, four days after suffering a major heart attack. For more information, see her website: www.mzbworks.com.

    The Ultimate Fantasy Novel

Most fantasy novels have certain elements that make for an entertaining read. This book takes all of those elements and combines them into one story. They left nothing out. And unlike a few books that I've read, where the author attempted to combine all of the key ingredients, the characters' have fully developed personalities. The combination of the three authors is flawless. And, no matter what part of a fantasy novel you like best, this novel does it and does it very, very well. If you never read another fantasy novel READ THIS ONE!!!!!!!

    Thank you. I'm estatic!

One of my ALL-TIME favorite books. Soo glad I was finally able to get a copy without breking the bank by special ordering it online. That's a very important factor for a college student.

    Excellent Book

This book was incredible. Although the plot can be considered a norm of fantasy, the re-telling of it by these three authors makes it its own entity. Each reader will most likely have their own favorite of the three women; I had two, Shelyra and Adele. There are several twists in the story that keep you guessing, although it is not one where the villain is kept 'unknown' until the end. Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes these three authors. I'm well aware that many reviews are only made by those who love the books, but I hope that those reading this will still be influenced to read these, as they are a great find.
