Peter Pan and other Neverland characters are now teen agers. Tiger Lily is being raised by the local shaman Tik Tok, who wears long dresses. Tinker Bell is the narrator. An English ship crashes against the rocks, and a lone survivor, Phillip, crawls onto the shore. Tik Tok announces that Tiger Lily is to be married to the local oaf with an overbearing mother at the end of the hot season. Tiger Lily discovers Peter Pan and they fall in love. She sneaks out at night to be with Pan and the lost boys. Meanwhile Phillip, while waiting for a ship to come for him, converts the colony to Christianity, which proves the undoing of Tik Tok, who commits suicide. An aging Captain Hook kidnaps boys in England, but Pan rescues them. When a ship from England arrives the sailors settle into the colony, and Wendy takes over Pan and the lost boys. Tiger Lily discovers that her childhood friend, Pine Sap, is building a house with hopes of marrying her. Tiger Lily decides to betray Peter and Wendy to Captain Hook, but later relents and saves them. When crows take over the village, the ship departs with Wendy, Pan, and the boys.     Tiger Lily promised a dark and tragic interpretation of a famili

    Tiger Lily promised a dark and tragic interpretation of a familiar children's story, one that would steal your breath away - and that was right. This book is exactly what it promised to be- a new, fresh take on an old story, a love story.

    As fascinating a story as it is, I can also see how this introspective book wouldn't be for every reader- but it's sure to capture the hearts of many who enjoy a grand romance, and anything to do with Peter Pan.

    Reasons to Read:

    1.A thoughtful interpretation of Peter Pan:

    I enjoy the story of Peter Pan, but I thought it was fantastic how well Jodi Lynn put her own spin on this story; the majority of the "facts" and details remain the same (or if they are changed, there's a reasonable explanation for it) and I was constantly surprised at how she made such a classic story her own. It can be hard to rework familiar territory, but the effect ends up making Tiger Lily a masterpiece of retellings.

    2.Lovely storytelling:

    While at first I had some reservations with the story being narrated by Tinker Bell, I soon realized how effective it was being told from a third party. Part of what makes the story so poignant is that it's never really clear how the various characters truly feel about one another or their circumstances - and because it's told through Tinker Bell's eyes, it feels even more tragic because we get to see hints of the pain experienced by a number of characters rather than just Tiger Lily. Tinker Bell is remarkably unbiased (except when it comes to Tiger Lily, whom she clearly has strong ties to) and offers a different perspective on the events as well.

    3.A strong, unique Tiger Lily:

    This is not the helpless, fairly bland Native American princess we're used to (thanks, Disney). Tiger Lily is reimagined as we haven't seen her before, and she's fully brought to life with her own past and her own personality. And her relationship with Peter Pan is beautiful in its own right, so simple and just plain RIGHT. It's the way things change between them that's so heartbreaking, and how they both feel lost to do anything about it.

    The one thing I was not expecting from this story was for the relationship between Tiger Lily and Peter Pan to be so pivotal, and even after reading most of it I didn't feel that should have had so much impact as it did. And the ending felt so rushed that it didn't feel wholly pulled together. I just had a hard time believing that this strong heroine would just sit back passively and watch while things happened around her, and then to react later on in such a strong, violent way. And honestly it was at that point that I began to lose my connection to Tiger Lily, because while I could understand her distress I couldn't fathom her rationale behind her choices.

    And for a book that's promoted as a love story- well, I found the romance between Peter and Tiger Lily to be rather rushed. And I found where the book really shone, was in its portrayal of various other relationships and qthe idea of cultures clashing and transformation and feeling like a misfit. THAT, more than any love story, is what the book (even unconsciously) seems to be about. And that's what's so striking about it.

    But all in all, this is a truly unique and stunning book that leaves a small mark on your heart. It's one that's unforgettable, partially because of how it makes you think differently about this familiar story and question characters like Pan, Wendy, Tiger Lily, and Tinker Bell to think of them in ways we've never seen before.

    I'm not even half way through...

    ...and it' already captured my book-nerd heart. This is a masterpiece. I thought the story of just Peter Pan was great but this tops it. Absolutely brilliant. I don't want to put it down, ever.

    Amazing

    I fell in love with this book. I have always loved Peter Pan, and to hear about this book made me so exited. The story was a beautiful one about Tigerlily being Peter Pan's first love before Wendy came. The book was written briliantly from the perspective of Tinkerbell, and within a day of getting the book I finnished it. I have never been a fan of Wendy, even in the Disney version, and the ending suprized me. I didnt think this book was 'dark', and it was especially not 'disturbing' as some people put it. I love this book, and as a thirteen year old, am obsessed.

    Good, But...No.

    Maybe it's because I'm old fashioned, but I was...disturbed by this dark, twisted tale on Peter Pan.
    While it is written beautifully, I don't agree with the story line, or the ending. It was all too much.
    I couldn't really get into the character of Tiger Lily. I felt as though all of her emotions were cut short, and the descriptions incomplete.
    While this is a neat version of Peter Pan, I'm more in love with the idea of it rather than the book itself.
    I was completely distraught and disturbed by the end of this story. But that's exactly what I was- disappointed.
    All in all, a 3 out of 5.
    I would love to read another story that sticks more to the original plot, and goes more into depth with the beauty that is this timeless story.

    I love this book

    This book is one of the best book that I've ever read. I just finished it today and I cried at the end. It's such a great story about the twists and turns if love. In the end, I'm still upset about things that did or didn't happen, but the ending is bittrsweet.

    Tigrr Lily

    I think Tiget Lily is a very amazing book. The author truely knows how to write an incredible book. She told every detail and how Tinkerbell would really tell the story and feels about Peter and Tiger Lily. I enjoyed this book most because the authors mind was very creative and she told a story like how it is sometimes in life. I really think you should read Tiger Lily.

    I was hesitent at first to read this because it was told from tinkerbells perspective. When i got a couple of chapters in to it i fell in love it gives you so much emotion and a different perspective.
    When i got to the iddelish it broke my heart to a million pieces. I was seriousky balling my eyes out the whole time. I love tiger lily she was always my favorite character. But it was amazing i would recommend this to everyone i know!

    Broke my heart

    This book was increible. I loved Tiger Lily so much, she was a great heroine and you really connect with her throughout the novel. The love stroy with her and peter was heartbreakingly beautiful and i still come back and reread some passages. Please read this book.
