Children's Literature - Pat Trattles
When Tiger Woods was six month old, his father , Earl, set up a makeshift practice driving range in his garage. Tiger sat in his highchair, mesmerized, watching his father perfect his golf swing. At 10 months he climbed out of the highchair, toddled over and picked up his first golf club. From there he went on to become one of the best known figures in the world of golf. Tiger Woods is a star off the competitive course as well. Through the Tiger Woods Foundation and the Tiger Woods Learning Center, he set up character development programs, scholarships, grants, and golf clinics for underprivileged youth. As a Part of the "Black Americans of Achievement-Legacy Edition" series from Chelsea House Publishers, this book is visually appealing as well as information packed. It contains full color captioned photographs, highlighted "In his own words" and "Did you know?" sections, sidebars on golfing, chronology of important events, an index, and suggestions for further reading. It all adds up to an appealing presentation of a world class athlete and philanthropist who is one role model truly deserving of his status. Reviewer: Pat Trattles
