All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Tigerlily, Natalie Merchant's first solo record, does sound different than 10,000 Maniacs. Instead of relying strictly on jangly folk-rock, Merchant continues opening her music up as she did on Our Time in Eden, her last album with the Maniacs. Wow!

I listen to music on the heavier side. This album got me listing to stuff I never thought I would. It is brillantly mastered and produced. It is a very original offering from a extremly un-original era in music. (Being 1973 to present) This cd flows out of the speakers and hits you with a relaxing haze of comfort. To be honest I think the singles released of this record were the worst songs on here. It is reflective, and introspective. I call it simply smart rock. Strong tracks are "River" (tribute to River Phoenix) and "Seven Years"

    The best among unknown :-)

I don't think it is very well known CD but I know it is really very good piece of cake. Wise and inspiring words, good melodies and stylish finished details. Great 'Carnival', probably the best peace on the plastic wheel. She shares her own experience with us about life and love and adds own colors of the human being. I recomend strong.

Aint anyone can take away the talent this woman has!

I'll tell all of you out there one thing.I've heard some really BAD BAD alternative music in the past. But through all that bad music is a shining star. Her name:Natalie Merchant. Tigerlily is one of my favorite albums of hers. There is no way you can call what she has anything but solid talent. This CD is the best if your looking for a mix of just about everything from slow to a jazzy feel.

    Kick back and relax!

This is a nice CD for a low keyed, relaxing day. The music is mellow, but a little on the sad side. Every song is pleasant to the ear. This is a good CD for those women who like to sing while driving!
