Overview

Tiger Woods's new swing is paying big dividends. Efficient, fundamentally sounds, and incredibly powerful, Tiger's swing allows him to consistently drive the ball farther than anyone else in golf. In Tiger's New Swing you will learn the essential components of dramatically improving the all-important tee-shot game. Pre-swing routine. Learn how to carefully plan out your routine to give yourself the best possible chance of hitting your target dead-on and landing the ball in the ideal position. Power backswing. Simple techniques to create powerful torque so that speed is maximized once the ball is struck. Distance with balance and accuracy. Clear instructions on how to hit stronger shots through improved footwork, which helps to creat more balance in the impact zone. Crush the ball-with consistency. Ingrain Tiger's technically unique swing positions into your muscle memory by working on the very same drills taught to Tiger.

Tiger's new driver action is so good it allows him to hit the ball farther than ever before off the tee, usually with a super-controlled fade-flight, and win tournaments again and again. Drawing on interviews with golf instructors familiar with the evolution of Tiger's new swing and its intricate movements, along with comments from professional golfers, television golf analysts, and Andrisani's own study and analysis of Tiger's game, golfers everywhere can find detailed instructions on this new swing.

Here, for the first time anywhere, John Andrisani-bestselling golf author, former golf instructor, and longtime senior instruction editor of Golf Magazine-offers a practical guide for golfers that traces Woods's growth as a player and, in short, simple chapters, gives easy-to-follow instructional text, illustrations, and photographs. The eight-page photo insert highlights Tiger in action, employing his new, powerfully accurate Turbo-Drive technique.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
A typical golf swing is completed almost immediately after it is initiated. In the few seconds it takes, even those with a relatively untrained eye can distinguish a golfer by his swing: the upward/outward thrust of Arnold Palmer, the stepping out of Gary Player, the loops of Jim Furyk. Instant replay does help to understand what's going on, as long as it is supported by expert commentary. Andrisani (The Tiger Woods Way) here takes the microscope to the swing of Tiger Woods, revealing his evolution as a golfer. He considers why Tiger felt the need to change his swing and how he went about making that change. Reading this book, the weekend player will feel either hope (even the best can improve their game) or despair (if it took Tiger two years to make this change). Andrisani's analysis is detailed, and he freely points out the distinctions that other commentators see in Tiger's new swing. He correctly uses Tiger as a model for how to inculcate a physical (and to some extent, mental) change. The flaw is that he tends to turn this into an instructional exercise. Simply put, what works for Tiger may not work for anyone else, but this review of Tiger's swing will be of interest to a wide audience. It's no 'Five Lessons' by Hogan

If you're looking for a guide as to how to build full swing from scratch, look elsewhere. Good points as to how to improve an existing swing, but nothing to help you build a swing from the ground-up as the cover suggests. Many atimes, the author's interpretations of Tiger's swing techniques are difficult to understand. Interesting nonetheless, though.
