Open Window, #1

She never imagined love could happen twice—until her husband returned from the dead.

Cassidy thinks she's getting on with her life just fine after her husband's fall to cancer. Life is quiet, which is just the way she likes it, half a continent away from her overbearing Irish family.

Niall doesn't want to scare the fragile Irish rose, but her husband, supposedly two years in the grave, has been caught on security tapes at a secret government laboratory.

Together, they unearth evidence of industrial espionage and identity theft. . .and frightening connections to the Irish Mob that will put more than just their own lives at risk.

Sex, bullets, more sex, intimate body piercings and a few red roses. What more could a girl want?

My Review: Cassidy had the picture-perfect marriage and husband and you get glimpses of their marriage and courtship throughout this book through flashbacks. He died a painful death from cancer at a very young age in Cassidy's arms and she's never really recovered from that loss, even though it's been two years. She functions, but that's pretty much it. She still wears black. She still desperately misses him. This book is very much a romantic suspense. You quickly discover that something is wrong when a bad guy breaks into Cassidy's home to threaten her if Ryan, her dead husband, doesn't come through on the promises he's supposedly made. As a reader, you have no idea what is going on....is Ryan dead? Is he not? Who are all these people suddenly invading Cassidy's fragile peace? Then an agent, the very sexy Niall, shows up to investigate Cassidy for hiding her husband Ryan. For her part, Cassidy is completely befuddled about how any of this is happening and confused by the fact that the first person who has piqued her interest in two years, just happens to be the guy investigating her. She's a little disgusted with her hormones. This is a fabulous book. There's intrigue and mystery. I loved Niall and the fact that he's supposed to be investigating Cassidy, but instead is falling for her and working to protect her. Every time he and Cassidy get together, he lights her up like she hasn't been in over two years. He's good for her! She's starting to live again and it was fun to watch her come out of her shell again. I love that Cassidy is one of seven siblings and just happens to be the only girl. I liked reading about her relationship with her twin Cayden and how protective he is of her. I'm excited that he is the hero in book #2 in this series. You have to love all those red-headed Shaunessey boys! This was a good book and a fabulous start to this contemporary series. I'm excited to read the rest of them.
