    more from this reviewer

This man is an authentic visionary.

In spite of the fact that I am of the "sixties generation," somehow I missed Scott Walker. I remember the early songs of the Walker Brothers, like the beautiful "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore," but I never knew a thing about Mr. Walker. In his case, all of the usual cliches of overstatement don't even come close: his music is totally original, it creates whole universes of sound and spirit, completely rearranges the furniture in your mind. It's like assuming that you're looking at the whole world, and then suddenly a door opens and you discover that what you took to be the world was just a painted closet, and the opening door catapults you into the stars. He's a genius.

In spite of his early success in that dearly missed (by me) decade, Mr. Walker does not make sixties music, and there's nothing in the least nostalgic (or even referential) about it. His musical vision is closer to 12 tone abstract avant guard music than to the Beatles. Although it does make me think of something Paul McCartney once wrote.

"When I think of the Sixties, it doesn't seem like the past, but like a period in the future which has yet to happen."

I can't believe I have only now discovered him. I'm completely excited to hear everything he's ever recorded.

NOTE: This is deeply serious music, more classical than pop. You can't dance to it. But it will make you cry. Thank you Scot Walker, wherever you are.

    i love this man

I have heard recommendations to listen to Scott Walker from my friends but I was skeptical to say the least. Well, then I bought the CD. It absolutely blew me away, his voice is like nothing I have ever heard before. Do not miss this man's music, it touches your soul.
