Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Justina Engebretson
In 2011, Tebowmania swept the nation, as football fanatics and Denver Bronco fans became enamored with Tim Tebow, the Broncos’ backup quarterback who quickly became a first stringer. In four short chapters, this middle reader, part of Sports Illustrated Kids’ “Superstar Athletes” series, offers Tebow fans a brief biography of his life and covers key highlights of his college and professional football career. Minimal text appears on each page, and pictures accompany every page of text, making the book visually engaging. Key words that may be less familiar to readers appear in bold print and are defined at the bottom of the page they appear on, as well as in the glossary at the back. The glossary also provides the pronunciations of these words. A table of contents, timeline, and lists of further print and non-print resources are also included. This book is an excellent resource for teaching young or struggling readers the features of nonfiction texts. Overall, this book will most likely appeal to young football fans. Reviewer: Justina Engebretson; Ages 8 to 10.
