Meet the Author

Melinda grew up on an isolated sheep ranch, where mountain lions had been seen and yet she roamed unaccompanied. Being a rather optimistic, clueless of danger, sort she took to playing "what if" games that led her to become an author.  She spends days trying to figure out new ways to say "He made her heart pound."  That might sound boring, but the challenge keeps her mentall ahead of her 3 kids and college sweetheart husband.

This is a story about dreams, hope, trust and secrets as these characters learn to rebuild their lives as they start over. Kathy’s childhood was not good she couldn’t wait to get out of this town. As she drives out of town waving good bye to it in her rearview mirror. Things just do not get better for this poor lady as she went off to college she finds herself pregnant and back home in a short time. Life is tough and the bottle looks wonderful as she finds the bottom of it. She goes through rehab and gets a good job now she needs to prove to her son she can be the mother he deserves. So much trust has been taken away and she has to rebuild it. Dylan has been hired to work with a horse he is rumored to have a way with them and some say he is a healer. He has a big secret if this gets out it could be the end of their relationship. Everyone thinks is hire for the horse when in fact he was hired to keep her sober working through her issues. He needs this job with the child support he must pay but with their friendship growing he is in a mess of what to do or say. The attraction is strong, the chemistry just right for these two as the work together working with the horse. Sooner or later things will come to a head when she finds out about his secret than it is anyone guesses to the outcome of their relationship. It sure doesn’t look good for them. This story has meaning, feeling to it you can see it in the words it really pulls you in as the author hooks you with her plot. This was really a very heartwarming read that I could not put down. Each one of the books in this series just gets better than the last. You will find a little bit of everything in this well written story of starting over and finding your future with the one who means more to you than life.

Time For love ( A Harmony Valley Novel - Book 5 ) By: Melinda Curtis Time For Love is book 5 in A Harmony Valley Novel Series. I have read a few in the series and would say that you can read it as a stand- alone without any problems. I am looking forward to reading the others in this series. The author knows how to pen and tackle some tough subjects. Kathy is a recovering alcoholic and has a small son, Truman, that she is trying to win his trust. Dylan is a divorced dad and struggling with some custody issues. He is a healer of misfit horses that are really dangerous. Dylan is keeping a very big secret that could come between him and Kathy if she finds out. I really like these two main characters and felt sorry for both of them . This is a very sweet heartwarming romance that touched my heart. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.

Time for Love is a beautiful story of coping with addiction, abuse and finding love again. It is a poignant read that will make you cry but it also has several humorous scenes that will make you laugh. Kathy is a recovering alcoholic who has lost her son's love and trust. Out of rehab, she is trying to make a better life for herself and regain the trust of her son again. But she does not have it easy. Her brother is worried that she will fall out of the wagon again and he has asked for the help of Dylan who helps people cope with addiction to help her on the pretext of helping a horse who has been condemned. Dylan himself has a lot of issues too. He is the son of an alcoholic and understands addiction better than others. He was known as a horse whisperer but has lost his reputation because of an accident with a troubled horse. His ex-wife totally hates how he allows alcoholics and troubled horses on his ranch and is determined to keep their son away from him. As he needs the money, he agrees to help Kathy without her knowledge. The two of them grow to love each other as they spend more time together. But the secrets and the issues of their lives make it hard for them to be together. I really loved this story and was really rooting for them all the way. Really glad that they finally found their HEA. ** I received a copy from editor/author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

Flawlessly Woven Together I’ve not read many works where the author is not afraid to tackle a subject that most would not want to discuss. Author Melinda Curtis does not fall into the “afraid to tackle a subject” category, and she proves that with her novel, Time for Love. The subject in question is alcoholism. Kathy Harris has struggled with alcoholism for some time but she’s now in recovery. However, that takes a lot, and she works very hard every day to get her life back in order and repair her relationship with her son. In her quest to do this, she takes on a job with a veterinarian. Kathy finds that she enjoys working with animals and has a way with them, but there is one horse in particular that is a little more difficult to deal with. Enter Dylan O’Brien, who some call a horse whisperer. Unbeknownst to Kathy, he also runs a ranch for people struggling with addictions. As Kathy and Dylan begin working together, a relationship develops. However, there are many bumps in the road that come from lies, past hurts and struggles with skeletons in the closet for each of them. Will each of them be able to overcome or is it all too much for them? The author develops the story beautifully. As you read, you will be drawn in and you’ll be able to feel what each character is going through. It will take you on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster ride whose end will reveal how the author has flawlessly woven everything together. Time for Love: a story of love, forgiveness, faith, overcoming, and second chances. *****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and viewpoints are my own.

Once again, Melinda Curtis invites readers back to the small California town of Harmony Valley. Although Time for Love is the fifth book in the series, it reads easily as a stand-alone story. Time for Love is a story of second chances and sweet romance. The main characters are struggling to overcome various issues, and the author realistically portrays their thoughts, actions, and emotions. Kathy and Dylan’s growth through the story is heartwarming, as is their romance. It’s always a pleasure to visit Harmony Valley, and I look forward to returning again soon! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Time for Love is the newest addition to the Harmony Valley series from the Harlequin Heartwarming line of sweet romances. It is book five in the series, however it can be read as a stand-alone story. I have only read books four and five in the series and have had no trouble learning to love the characters of this charming town. The author tackles some tough subjects in this book. From a heroine who is a recovering alcoholic, to a divorced dad struggling with custody issues, to traumatized horses that may be so dangerous there is no hope for them, this story has all of it and more. I really liked the two main characters, Dylan and Kathy. The weren’t perfect and they both had past issues that continued to affect them, even as adults. All of the characters in this story felt very realistic, even Kathy’s child, Truman. His behavior felt true to life and like an appropriate reaction to what he had been through. There was a sweet and satisfying romance, and plenty of tense moments to keep the story flowing. I really enjoyed this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book by Melinda Curtis! Kathy Harris and her brother didn't have it good growing up. They came from a family that was split apart so she and her brother were sent to live with their grandfather in Harmony Valley. Kathy vowed to get out of town and stay out of town as an adult, but when her life fell apart she was soon right back where she had started. She has a lot of rebuilding to do not only herself, but her family as well, especially with her son. Kathy finds herself drawn to Dylan O'Brien the local horse and people whisperer, but he has more to him than he lets on and secrets aren't part of the new life that Kathy hopefully can build her second time around in Harmony Valley. I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This was a very sweet story. Kathy and Dylan both need a second chance. Her as a recovering alcoholic, him as the "horse whisperer" who was injured when a horse got out of control. They both need a boost to their self confidence. This was a great story about second chances and believing in yourself, and in others. I loved Kathy and my heart ached for her in her struggle to rebuild her relationship with her son. Yet another great story in the Harmony Valley series. I really love that little town and the residents in it.

Kathy is an alcoholic. She has been to rehab, has lost the trust of her son and lives with her brother who is constantly checking to make sure she hasn't relapsed. Dylan takes care of horses that everyone else thinks can't be saved. He also works with people who a lot of others think can't be saved. Kathy's brother hires Dylan to keep an eye on her, but he can't tell her. Kathy is very honest and up front about everything and will not take it well when she finds out that her brother is interfering in her life, again. Dylan could lose his livelihood and his son if his ex-wife gets her way. He must choose between what he loves to do, Kathy and his son. I really enjoyed this story. Heartwarming and very interesting.

I really enjoyed this story a lot. The struggles and trials faced by both Dylan and Kathy seemed insurmountable, but with faith in each other and the willingness to open up, we see their personal growth. And perhaps more. Kathy has a problem. It's called alcohol. And it has cost her almost everything. Now back home out of rehab and trying to bridge the problems with her 8 yr. old son, she must face some tough choices. What does she want to do with her life, how is she going to beat this demon and stay sober? But she can't stand everyone always on guard or handling her like she is going to fail. Where is the support she really needs? And will her son ever forgive her for making him grow up too fast? Dylan is known as the horse whisperer, at least he was until an accident with a troubles horse he was working with leaves him a woman severely injured and his confidence shot. When he is faced with an opportunity to make some much needed money, he takes the job of helping Kathy. Unbeknownst to her. When feelings start to grow, and lies and horrible truths ore found out, can she remain sober or will she feel unworthy and let down once again? And with the chance of Dylan losing his son, can they even be together or will she be considered too high a risk?

Kathy Harris is back in Harmony Valley. Rehab was difficult, but the worse is yet to come. She wants to reunite with her young son, but she has shattered his innocence with her addition to alcohol. While she is working at the veterinary clinic, she meets Dylan O'Brien. He works with injured and broken horses. They are drawn to each other and she feels that she can trust him. What will happen when she learns that he has been hired by her brother to make sure that she stays sober? I loved Kathy. She is strong and determined to become a better person. She struggles with temptation every day but keeps fighting. She loves her son and wants to be there for him. My heart broke for her pain. Dylan is a compassionate man who has gone through hell as a child and now wants to help others who have suffered as he has. Redemption Ranch is where he helps both man and animal conquer their demons. These two belong together. I wanted them together for ever. I feel at home in Harmony Valley. It's a quaint and friendly town where neighbors help neighbors. Melinda Curtis wrote a story that has it all - love, forgiveness and healing. The characters are well written and the author writes from her heart. I admit to shedding tears as I read Time For Love.

This story is as real and raw as they get. It is heartbreaking, with the struggle and issues the characters face - alcoholism and custody battles. Both issues affect the whole family, community, around the people facing them, and the effects ripple in some cases even generations down. Kathy is determined to win the battle, this time around. She has so much she could lose, mainly her son. She is honest about her battle, as honest as she can be. And the battle is constant. Her brother means well, but the constant worry and checking in on her is not helping. Then Dylan comes to her life. And they connect immediately. They have a rare connection, he is so easy to open up to, talk to, and be with, Kathy feels at peace around him, with no cravings for alcohol, or feelings of failure. But Dylan has his own secrets, his own issues, and his own battles to be won. The feelings they have for each other, they have no place, time or room for those in their lives right now. This is one of those stories, that it will break your heart a bit, until it puts it back together again. It has its dark moments, filled with angst, sorrow and regrets. But it also has moments of success, joy, and pure love and delight. I was in tears and I smiled, and felt for the characters, and the pain in their life. This a story that will make you think about life, priorities, and be thankful for what you have. I highly recommend this book, this story will touch your heart ~ Five Spoons

This fifth story in the Harmony Valley series is truly wonderful and heartwarming. It can be read as a standalone as well. In it is the beauty of what can bloom from having to move on from dark places. The blending of the characters with each other is magical. Horses and dogs play a major part, too. Not only does Cathy, as a recovering alcoholic fresh out of rehab, need to gain the trust of her eight-year-old son, Truman, but Dylan, a horse trainer, needs to make hard choices that include a bitter ex-wife and his adorable five-year-old son, Zach. Both work at at a combined small-animal clinic and horse obstetrics unit, where some horses are battling their own injuries and scars. This author writes with heart and has created a really strong gem. There is nothing sappy about it, too. I loved it. [I received this as an ARC.]
