Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
K-Gr 2-Timmy wishes he could be fearless like his friend Rocket, who leaps over ditches filled with water, crosses the deep dark forest solo, and jumps from a boulder into the pond below. Then one day, the little hare finds some carrots outside the family burrow and devours them. When his angry mother asks who ate them, no one replies. That evening, Timmy can't sleep, and he confesses. Instead of chastising him, his mother commends him for his bravery in telling the truth, and he finally feels good about himself. This simple story of owning up to one's guilt is accompanied by cheerful, colorful illustrations that fully capture the characters' emotions, especially the timid hare's fear. Getting across the point without being didactic makes this book pleasant fare for the picture-book crowd.-Anne Knickerbocker, formerly at Cedar Brook Elementary School, Houston, TX Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
