Timon: An Ancient Greek Satire in Modern English
This graphic novel is a fresh adaptation of "Timon, or the Misanthrope," an ancient Greek comic dialogue written in the second century CE by the Syrian satirist Lucian of Samosata. At the center of the story is Timon, an ill-tempered Athenian who has lost his wealth by squandering it on false friends. When Zeus gets wind of Timon's plight, he hatches a plan to restore Timon's wealth. Helping Timon may prove to be a difficult task than it first appears, however. Will the shifty god Riches find his way back to Timon? Is getting rich again really in Timon's best interest? And what about the moochers who sucked away Timon's former wealth? Lucian's wit-filled story comes to life in this imaginatively-illustrated adaptation that will be accessible and humorous to all, whether children, Classicists, or anything in between.
