Library Journal - Library Journal
While serving time in the California prison system, Jones overheard stories about scams perpetrated by fellow inmates. In six chapters, he recounts these scams and offers tips that the readers can follow in order to avoid being victimized. Especially useful are the tips on burglary, robbery, and larceny. The author appears on more shaky ground in the last three chapters, which treat investment and credit card scams and confidence games. The book begins and ends with an essay by the author on his version of the causes of crime and his mea culpa for having caused his family and friends some misery. Not an essential purchase, but an interesting ``extra'' if funds permit. --Frances Sandiford, Green Haven Correctional Facility Lib., Stormville, N.Y.
