    I Also Recommend:

Great book for novices and perhaps beyond.

This is a great book for the reader who has already mastered notation, the moves, and knows what a rank, file, and diagonal are. If the player lacks that foundation, then another book is called for, but these tips are the essence of chess. I gave the book to my 10 year-old nephew but felt that either the work bored him or that he needed some of the preparation that should be present when using this book. After he gets done with the Chess Player's Bible, I think this work will improve his game.

A Fantastic Buy For Young And Not-So-Young Players

As an introductory book for players who already know the rules and notation, Tips is an excellent choice. GM Sadler has an engaging, user-friendly writing style which he employs to clearly explain opening, middlegame, and endgame principles. I'm a tournament chess player with an A level rating (translation: strong intermediate/weak advanced non-pro) and I found the book interesting and productive. I'd recommend Tips to any teenager or newcomer.
