'Tis the Season: A Vegetarian Christmas Cookbook

'Tis the Season: A Vegetarian Christmas Cookbook

by Nanette Blanchard, Rodica Pratto

Editorial Reviews

Barbara Jacobs
Too bad Blanchard doesn't bill her more than 150 recipes as "quick and easy" and include preparation times as well as nutritional analyses. Her 14 menus celebrating Christmas (but not Hanukkah nor Kwanzaa) are definitely in the no-time, no-fuss category. Most of the meals feature ordinary appetizers, entrees, and desserts we're rather accustomed to. A few of the more unusual dishes stem from specific menus' themes, including crumpets and eggnog-pineapple bread for a Victorian Christmas tea, zucchini and hominy soup as a starter for a southwestern Christmas fiesta, and baked lemon rice pudding for a holiday breakfast.
