The action begins right away as the demigods Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia arrive at Westover Hall in Maine to rescue two half-bloods whose parentage is unknown. Percy is fourteen-years-old and identifies himself as an impulsive ADHD kid. He is the son of Poseidon and a mortal mother. The half-blood kids attend Camp Half Blood, which is run by Chiron the centaur. They look human but have these special powers because of their parentage. The half-bloods are out to save the world from destruction by the monsters. In their quest, they fight a manticore and are assisted by Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, and her eternal maidens. The fight against the monsters takes them across New England to Washington, DC, and across the country to Arizona and California. This fast-paced story is full of adventure and humor. Readers will relate to good natured Percy, the protagonist. He is trying to fit in with his peers, please his parents, and save the world. The book brings Greek mythology to life in a kid-friendly way. This third book in the author's series, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians," follows bestsellers The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters. Reviewer: Jeanne K. Pettenati, J.D.
Gr 6-9 -In this third installment (Miramax, 2007) to the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, Rick Riordan continues the saga of the Greek gods and their half-human offspring. The story takes place in modern-day America where Percy, son of Poseidon, faces off with mythical monsters and other enemies of the gods. Accompanying him are his friends, Grover the satyr, Thalia, daughter of Zeus, and two Hunters. They set off to find the missing Artemis, goddess of the hunt, who has been kidnapped by Titan Kronos's cronies, and Annabeth, daughter of Athena, who has disappeared over the edge of a cliff. To make matters worse, the Oracle predicts that one of them will not survive the quest. Actor Jesse Bernstein does a first-rate job of narrating the story, seamlessly shifting between the voices of the various characters and rendering each of them a unique persona. A great addition to most junior high/middle school and public library audio collections.-Kathy Miller, Baldwin Junior High, Baldwin City, KS

While it does have children as main characters, they still captivate the reader and you get so into the problems and adventures they find themselves into. I recommend this book along with the series to all those young readers or young at heart :p.

I've read all the books from this series and their incredible! They should totally make a movie out of these books. The descriptions are mezmorizing and the consepts of modern day gods and demi-gods inspires me. I hope more people will read these books. Even if your not a big fantasy person these books takes you into the 'reality' of the ancient greeks. In short you'll love it!!!!!!!!!!! :-

In this book: Annabeth goes missing! Percy, Bianca, Grover, Zoe, and Thalia go on a quest to find her, the goddess Artemis, and a monster that could destroy mankind.

The Titan's Curse was a great book, filled with adventure, love, and surprises. I think that with all of the twists in this book, it might be my favorite. I also ove how Rick Riordan makes the book interesting with Greek mythology, but not dull. Rick has done it again!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. If you're looking for a romantic love story with heart-quenching, tear-jerking, lovey-dovey moments.... then you're looking at the wrong book here. BUT, if you're looking for an action packed thriller based on the greek gods in modern times (duh, the headline), then you've come to the right place. Percy Jackson found out in previous books that he is teh half-blood son of Posiedon. When you're a half-blood in a world like ours, you are either targeted by mythical monsters, misunderstood by mortals, or completely neutral in the minds of the gods... Percy is only lucky enough to be teo of these things, since most of the gods want him either dead, or they just don't care. This time, Percy is in for a doosy of a ride when he is dodging monsters such as the Manticore, or the Nemean Lion. Not only that, but he must save a friend, and a god, and maybe even take the full force of the Titan's curse! If you're ready for the ride of your life, then hop on the back of Blackjack, the black pegasus, and hold on tight!

In this third book to the series Percy Jackson and his friend have to rescue the goddess Artemis and defeat a Titan (not saying which one. The only thing I'm saying is that it isn't Kronos.) This book was funny, full of action and adventure, and great! If you love Greek mythology with a twist then you have to read this book.

Hello fellow Percy Jackson lovers! It's me, twin sister of Harry Potter freak ( call me SER)! One of his best books yet! I am planning on readin the rest of the series a second time, as I said in the second book review.
Rick Riordan has done something no one else could give me. He gave me the inspiration to be what I have always to be. A writer.
Thank you Rick Riordan. A million times thank you.

Overview
When the goddess Artemis goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped. And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened. Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared -- a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.
