Overview

Titch is little. Everything he has is little -- his little pinwheel, his little tricycle. He even plays a little whistle. Peep.
Pete and Mary are big. Everything they have is bigger than Titch's, and better. Their big bikes go faster. Their big kites fly higher. And their huge instruments are much louder. BANG!
But then Titch gets a little seed. And what comes from it is a hundred times bigger then anything Pete and Mary could ever have!

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
In seldom more than 10 words per page, this deceptively simple tale--accompanied by straightforward figures against white backgrounds--tells of a boy's quiet triumph over his two older siblings. Ages 3-6. (Mar.)

Baby/Toddler—This classic tale of three siblings—one who is little (Titch), one a bit bigger (Mary), and one a lot bigger (Peter)—sweetly explores the family dynamics of birth order and the challenges and satisfaction of reaching developmental stages. Titch's persistent attempts to follow in his siblings' footsteps as they play, make music, and build are rewarded when the older kids dig some dirt and fill a flowerpot. Titch plants a tiny seed, and the threesome watch it grow and grow. A lovely reassuring metaphor for the youngest among us.
