Amazingly captivating story of despair and the will of a folk to endure to live on.

I have talked about this book with a friend that recommended it to me. And i must say Wow! The pages of history that are left untouched in contemporary sociological history are the most amazing to discover i believe. As a Social scientist this story was particurlarly intriguing to me and very informative . And with not much more than average knownledge of this period pre reading this book i must say that i am overly impressed with the amount of research done and found of files and records that have otherwise would have been lost in the anals of history. Bravo! The ties to slavery are still relevant and will always be to some extent or the other and i think this piece will endure as a timeless piece of the story of untold history, suffering and overcoming tragedy.
