    disappointed

I am a Kurland fan, and have read most in the series. I was disappointed in the book. It is only 76 pages (which I hadnt realized when I purchased the nookbook). She crammed too much into the space. The sad thing is I feel like it would be an excellent novel if she took the time to flesh it out.

    Dont waste your time

This book was a waste of time. It was too short, there was no character development, it seemed like the two characters fell in love in 2 days... there was no suspence or a climax... blah.

Short but sweet! Not one of Kurland's best works but a delight to find out what becomes of Jason. Must be read as part of the de Piaget series in order to appreciate it.

    Disappointment

After reading her previous books I was very disappointed. I always wanted to know what happen to Jason. It was to short. No character development. Save your money.

    I Also Recommend:

    Short but good.

This is a really good short story, but you have to read "From This Moment On" first, that where Jason comes from. Myself, I liked being able to find out what happens to him.

    more from this reviewer

This novella was first published in the anthology called "T

This novella was first published in the anthology called "Tapestry" back in 2002.  Now it is available as an ebook on its own. Yes, it's short... but back when it was written, Lynn's series was not what it was now, and she got the chance to write a short story for the anthology.  Jason was the character she chose, and this Rita-winning story shows just how marvelously she did that.

If you begin this story expecting "Jason's story" and a full-length novel, you'll think she didn't do well.  Don't go there... that's not how it happened and you're expectations will make you miss out on what this truly is. For if you take this book for what it is - a chance to read a short story that she wrote years and years ago, you'll enjoy very much how she was able to pack a complete romance - and a true love story - into a small number of pages.

Lianna of Grassleigh is continually spurned by everyone at the king's court. Though she may be his ward and an heiress, her face is covered by the scars from the pox. Her heart, however, is still sweet and strong, despite losing her entire family and the treatment she suffers from. She dispairs of ever having a true home again, though... until the day she unwittingly disparages the popular Kenderick of Artane to his face - and finds a friend.  Even more life-changing was the moment she meets his younger brother, Jason of Blackmour. His reputation may be dark and terrible, but all she sees is kindness, chivalry, and a man who, amazingly enough, finds her beautiful and worthy of respect and honor.

Jason of Artane - lately of Blackmore - has been sent by his father to find his brother Kendrick who is most likely playing around at the king's court. Jason dutifully makes the stop, all the while hampered by a cold and the fact that his reputation, as the spawn of Blackmore, causes people to cross themselves and avoid him as soon as they know who he is.
