Overview

Explore the life and spirituality of Saint Paul with popes, saints, and other great teachers of the Church

Published to coincide with Pope Benedict XVI's "Year of St. Paul," To Live is Christ will energize Christians of all backgrounds to study the great Apostle.

It has been 2,000 years since St. Paul's birth. This is your guide to take forty days to deepen your life with Christ by discovering him once again.

"To Live is Christ is a matchless treasury of wisdom about and from St. Paul. This book is unique in that it quotes extensively from the Church Fathers, saints, and popes both to tell Paul's life story and to develop the key themes of his letters. The well-crafted questions for reflection at the end of each of forty devotions touch the heart with Paul's message and lead to life-changing decisions."
- Bert Ghezzi, author of Voices of the Saints

This beautiful book is ideal for both study groups and personal use, illuminating eight special themes from the life and writings of St. Paul:

Themes from His Life

A Converted Man
Witness to the Nations
Trials and Afflictions
The Revelation of Jesus Christ

Themes from His Letters

Life is Christ, Death is Gain
The Greatest of These is Love
The Fruit of the Spirit

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

Pope Benedict XVI has declared July 2008 through June 2009 "The Year of St. Paul," and in recognition, Paraclete Press commissioned this very accessible introduction to the life and spirituality of St. Paul, the ever-controversial apostle who, having failed to meet his Savior in his lifetime, deployed the rhetoric of a professional prosecutor in devising a theology around him for young churches. Celano, an editor at Paraclete, has written a brief and straightforward account of Paul's life, directing readers' reflections on themes from the apostle's life and letters. While Celano's introduction in no ways reflects current biblical or late Classical scholarship, the clarity of his approach should appeal to a wide readership.
