Born to Love…

Five years ago, vampire Ryder Latimer stepped into the path of a bullet meant for FBI Agent Diana Reyes, at once saving her life and condemning her to death when his blood contaminates her open wounds. Now only an experimental treatment, transfusions, and allowing Ryder to sink his teeth into her when they make love keep her alive.

Born to Survive…

Ryder has always known that no matter what they try, Diana can’t possibly survive what contact with his blood did to her. The reality for him is that no matter how much he loves her, he will lose her if he doesn’t turn her—a choice Diana may have put off for too long.

Born to Serve…

Even as her health continues to deteriorate and they battle with that difficult decision, Diana tracks a serial killer targeting their vampire friends. It’s a dangerous job, but she was born to it and, with Ryder’s help, she’ll serve and protect until the day she dies—or until a miracle turns their world upside down.

Somebody is killing off vampires and FBI Special Agent Diana Rey

Somebody is killing off vampires and FBI Special Agent Diana Reyes has intimate knowledge of vampires.  Five years ago, vampire Ryder Latimer stepped into the path of a bullet meant for Diana, at once saving her life and condemning her to death when his blood contaminates her open wounds.  Since then they have fallen in love and his vampire kiss and some experimental blood treatments are all that is keeping her alive.  In this sexy paranormal romantic suspense novel we are treated to a different kind of wacko then the first book in this spin-off series but the underlying theme of justice v. vengeance, love, duty and honor prevail.

Diana has been on the edge of death for the past 5 years, after almost being shot and instead contaminated with Ryder’s vampire blood, she needs him to survive. Now she is growing sicker and has a choice to make become a vampire herself or death. Ryder loves Diana and only wants to help her anyway he can. While on the hunt for a murderer, they will need to decide if they can forgive themselves and each other and find the love they are both looking for.
Wonderful read, the story was fast paced and exciting and the drama/heat between Diana and Ryder is truly a page turner. If you are a paranormal fan or even a fan of romance this is a must read for you.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The author had me immediately from the start with this book, she didn’t have too many details or too little. In my opinion, your given enough to understand what is going on and enjoy the book. She delivers awesome paranormal romances that keeps the readers involved and pulls you into the world of the novels. From what I can take with this book and also previous ones she has installed secret messages that reflects what happens in real life and how decisions you make can either have a good outcome or a negative outcome.

Ryder has always let himself been outside and lonely until he met Diana. Since he has met her he has started to take a more involved take with his own kind (vampires). He is the reason why she is still alive and yet he blames himself for the reasons on why she is become weaker and sick even though he continues to try and help.

Diana has to make a hard decision between life or death, but she is scared. Will her being afraid cause her to make a decision that could not only affect her decision but also those around that love her. She loves her job and will do anything to continue working as an FBI agent. But when vampires start dying the Vampire council requests Ryder to help to find this killer before someone close becomes the next target.

This can be considered a stand-alone and I would highly recommend this book to any paranormal readers. But I would also recommend you to go back and read the first book in this series, which is also a great novel. I will be waiting for the next one in the series to read! This is a must read! ~ Sue Ellen (girlygirlbookreviews)

A Cardid Series that is a must read.
    Rating:  4 1/2 stars

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.  I was not compensated in any way.

The paranormal action starts right from the first paragraph.  In my opinion, this is one of those series that you will want to read in order.  You could try reading this one first but a lot of things make more sense if you read For Love or Vengeance first.  Although Caridad does state that this can be read as a standalone.

This is a genre that you have to respect what the author does in order to develop their stories.  I’m sure that some research was involved since our author is also creating her story during what appears to be current times.  But she must have a really great imagination since a lot of what she creates doesn’t actually exist.

You will find that Caridad has the suspense and mystery continue almost to the very end of the book.  When the ending comes, you’ll be left with a smile on your face. This is a must read for anyone that likes a little mystery/suspense with their paranormal fix. And the good news is there’s another book coming out in November.

    Review:

This was a thrilling, dark and sexy story that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Diana and Ryder are one of my favorite couples and loved getting to see more of them and this series!

Diana has always seemed the strong and independent FBI agent, who has been changed through an accidental blood exchange with her lover Ryder. You get to see a different side of Diana in this story, which I enjoyed. Though I did guess what was happening to her before the reveal at the end of the story. Ryder is an old southern vampire, who never thought would find love, but did with Diana and it is now at a loss on how to protect her from the disease ravishing her body. I loved their moments whether good or bad that showed them working through their relationship and what was happening to Diana

I loved the plot of the "Slayer" targeting vampires, it was suspenseful. The story weaves us through the human, vampire and slayer world seamlessly. We get to see lots of characters from the other Calling books, that is now the Reborn series. This is a great blend of suspense, paranormal and romance in one story.

Caridad Pineiro has done it again.  I am hooked on this series and this is just the second book.  This is not your typical vampire romance story! I would highly recommend this book/ series to anyone but be warned you are going to want to know what is going on with all of the other characters so be prepared to read more than one.  ;op

An even darker follow up to book one For Love and Vengeance. The turmoil the characters face are challenging. It starts off dark and intense and continues through out the book. Not a dull moment at all. I like the mixing of culture and love. Suspense is so high that you feel like you forget to breath until you put the book down.

I had a little bit of trouble getting into this one at first. This is book 2 and I haven't read book 1 so I was a little lost on some of it. They do refer back some but it still feels a little like you missed part of a movie. But that being said once I got into the swing of it I really enjoyed it.
You can really feel the chemistry and love between Diana and Ryder. They are struggling quite a bit with Diana not wanting to be a vampire because she's afraid that she couldn't control her demon and Ryder not wanting to lose her. So there's definitely a big struggle between loving Ryder and her fear of what she would become.
There was a lot of suspense and build up in this. There's a serial killer hunting vampires and Ryder while trying to help stop him also doesn't want Diana involved. Diana's in the process of trying to get her job back with the FBI and helping her friend and would be boss on the sides with another serial killer case. The 2 worlds do eventually collide and Diana has to help stop the killer before he hurts more vampires.
I definitely can't wait to read more in this series. I love the blending of the human world and the vampires. I will go back and read the 1st and look forward to getting the 3rd when it comes out

I highly recommend TO LOVE AND SERVE by Caridad Pineiro especial

I highly recommend TO LOVE AND SERVE by Caridad Pineiro especially if you love edgy, suspenseful, paranormal love stories. TLAS is the second in Ms. Pineiro's Reborn Vampire series and I have yet to read the first, For Love or Vengeance, but I had no problem following the storyline and didn't feel as if I was missing important information on the plot it the characters. All due to the fact Ms. Pineiro dies an excellent job of world building and is not stingy with character back stories. She weaves it all in masterfully as she draws you in to the suspense of identifying and stopping a serial killer.

The killer, a rogue slayer, is executing vampires without the sanction of the Slayer Council. His actions pull together the Elders of the Vampire Council, the Slayer Council, the FBI and a NYPD detective to solve the case. Ryder, a vampire nightclub and restaurant owner that caters to the undead crowd also becomes involved in the investigation, but tries to keep his lover, Diane, a FBI profiler on administrative leave out of it due to his concerns for her health. In the she is brought in anyway by her ADIC, Jesus. I don't want to say much more about that aspect and ruin the intricate plot for anyone.

The other aspect of TLAS is the love story of Ryder and Diane. Ryder will steal your heart with his deep abiding love for Diane. How despite his "Demon's" desire to fully claim and turn her so he can spend eternity together with the love of his long life. He respects and admires her wishes, her needs, her fears, her strengths, and her stubborn determination to do what is right. He is a sexy, passionate, tender, and giving lover who is totally focused on taking care of Diane in every way. Diane is strong, independent, intelligent, and completely in love with Ryder, the vampire who once saved her life. I absolutely adored the scenes of the two of them together. Michaela, a sassy dhampir who represents the Slayer Council was a favorite character too. All in all TLAS was an excellent story that was well-paced, solidly written, and kept my interest from beginning to end.

*I received this book from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

To Love and Serve by Caridad Pineiro was an action packed suspen

To Love and Serve by Caridad Pineiro was an action packed suspense that will make you a bit scared to go outside when it's dark!! Diana is a strong heroine, and as an FBI agent she just wants to do the right thing and protect others. She has had a rough time since her father died in the line of duty when she was a teenager. She's never felt the same about life...and she feels a darkness inside of her. When a raid goes bad and Diana is contaminated with vampire blood from Ryder, the vampire trying to save her, her life can never be the same. She's now on forced leave from the FBI, in a relationship with Ryder, and inside she's slowly dying. For now she is surviving thanks to the treatments from Ryder's keeper. But if Diana doesn't turn soon, she will die a very human death.

Ryder loves Diana more than he thought it was possible to. Since he's been with Diana he's been more and more involved in the vampire community. When a killer starts targeting vampires, Ryder is drawn into the investigation as part of the vampire council. Wanting to protect Diana he does not tell her about it. But soon she will be drawn in anyway. As the humans, vampires, and slayers try to track down a killer, Diana is getting sicker and sicker...the treatments don't work for as long. She doesn't want to be without Ryder, but she's scared of the darkness in her and what turning will bring out in her. She's terrified of losing Ryder.

Ryder wants to spend forever with Diana, but it has to be her decision.

Caridad gives us another great paranormal romance with To Love and Serve. She manages to blend well the paranormal aspect and vampires with everyday issues everyone faces...uncertainty, love, and family relationships. Caridad draws the plot out well along with a few surprises so you're never bored! Ryder and Diana are both very strong characters who work so well together. The romance and mystery probably take up equal parts of the story because they are interwoven so well together, and Ryder and Diana are key players in both.

I was a little confused at times and would have liked a bit more background on certain events or people in To Love and Serve, but overall found it to be an intense, thrilling paranormal romance. To Love and Serve has loose connections to the first book in this series, For Love or Vengeance (which I highly recommend!), but the characters are very different and To Love and Serve can definitely be read as a stand alone book.

I am hooked again on this series. I enjoyed meeting the gang again and hearing about their lives after their books. This book is a great new start for Diana and Ryder and I can’t wait to follow the new road that they will have to travel together. There is a case to solve on the vampire side of things and Ryder uses what he has learned from Diana to help his friends solve the case. Diana illness has you worried throughout the book. So worried, I almost cheated and read the end first to see how she would fair. I thought this was a great read and wished that I had the next book so I could keep on going.

A love story with a dark edge ¿ Diana and Ryder He¿s been waitin

A love story with a dark edge – Diana and Ryder
He’s been waiting for her his whole life…
“Hope was the only thing that kept me going for centuries. Hope brought me you.”
She is afraid that choosing eternal life may set her demons free…
“She didn’t dare hope for such a happy future for herself. There was too much unrest within her soul that she feared her new demon would embrace. That it would take her over, and bring death and destruction to those she loved. And she feared Ryder would endlessly blame himself for turning her and awakening those darkest parts of her.”
The decision may be out of her hands…

Diana Reyes is a special agent with the New York Field Office of the FBI. She is currently serving a suspension for an incident that happened two years ago, the same incident that caused her body to become contaminated with vampire blood, which is slowly killing her. She is also fighting demons from her past – a past in which she witnessed her detective father be gunned down and die in her arms, but has also instilled in her a great need to serve.

Ryder Latimer is a vampire who has lived his life outside the vampire world, but, since becoming involved with Diana, has slowly begun to become immersed in vampire politics and the Vampire Council. When a serial killer begins targeting vampires Ryder is drawn into the investigation. His concern for Diana’s health keeps him from including Diana in the investigation, but when the serial killer strikes at a human, their worlds collide and the Vampire Council and the FBI must work together to capture the serial killer.

The inner turmoil that Diana faces by having to decide if she can live with herself if she chooses to be turned into a vampire are heart-wrenching…
"You terrified me, because deep in here – “she laid her free hand over her own heart – “I’m not sure what I want. I’m scared I can’t handle those darkest parts of myself if you were to turn me. I’m so afraid you’ll stop loving what I’ll become.”
She knows she loves Ryder, but is so afraid of what losing her humanity means, especially since, after never wanting children, she has suddenly begun to hear her biological clock ticking. She is also terrified of losing herself to her inner demons that manifested themselves after her father was killed…
“I do love you, Ryder. But I’m not sure I’m as strong as you are. Not sure I can maintain enough humanity to control the demon. I already lost my way once before and barely came through it alive.”

Ryder was just awesome. His love for Diana had him all sorts of crazy with worry…
“What if the treatments fail? Do you think I can just watch you die, and do nothing?” He beat his chest with one fist so hard it left a splotch of pink against his skin. “Do you want me to kill what’s inside here? To lie to myself that I don’t care?”
He knew that he would not want to keep living his life if she was not a part of it…
“Ryder wanted to tell Diana that she caused him such agony because, after centuries of merely existing, he was finally alive.”
But he knew she needed to make the decision in her own time, in her own terms, but he needed to show her that she was capable of mastering her demons…
“He had to prove to her that the inner demon could be mastered, so she could trust that if she was turned, she could rein in her vampire’s need for blood and violence.”

Caridad Pineiro once again delivers a fabulous story that takes you on a journey through the darker side of New York. Her characters are engaging and well-written, and she weaves a tale full of romance, action and suspense. Another great read I would highly recommend.
