Editorial Reviews

Associated Press
Susan Polis Schutz remains one of the most popular poets in America, and her work touches virtually everyone.
Woman's Day
Susan Polis Schutz's popularity can be attributed to her ability to verbalize intimate, honest emotions, shared, but unsaid by most people. In the sensitive yet lucid style that has become her signature, she writes about love and the family, the role of women in a rapidly changing society, and the struggle for self-improvement and happiness. Stephen beautifully illustrates Susan's poems. They are a team, and their books reflect this.

What is a Daughter?

A daughter is
a rainbow bubble
a star glimmering in the sky
a rosebud after a storm
a caterpillar turning into a butterfly

A daughter is
hair flying in the wind
red cheeks that glisten in the sunshine
big daydream eyes

A daughter is
a wonder
a sweetness, a secret, an artist
a perception, a delight

A daughter is
everything beautiful
A daughter is
love

Finding the right person to love
is so important
Love comes naturally
but you must both work
at making it last
and try your hardest
at all times
to be fair and honest with each other

Strive for your own goals
and help your mate achieve his
Always try to understand him
Always let him know what you are thinking
Always try to support him
Try to successfully blend
your lives together
with enough freedom
to grow as individuals
always consider each day you spend together
as a special day
Regardless of what events
occur in your lives
make sure that your
relationship always flourishes
and that you always love and respect each other

    a reviewer

Your book was given to me as a birthday present from my mom. Knowing my love for poetry she also wrote me a note next to one of the poems. I read the entire book the night I got it and didn't get bored reading it over and over again after that. Anyway the reason I'm writing wasn't really to review the book, I just didn't know how else to get a hold of Mrs.Schultz. I was hoping to get an e-mail address or find out some way to contact her for an engilsh project I'm working on. Any information would be extremely helpful. Thanks

One Of The Best Gifts I've Ever Bought

I bought this book when My daughter was 6 and now at age 11 1/2 I gave it to her this past christmas and she loved it , she has never been interested in poetry before but now she loves it. She said she would cherish it forever and that was the best thank you a mother could ask for. Thank You Susan for the most beautiful poetry for families. I'm now ordering To My Son With Love, he is 5 but as soon as he gets old enough he will recieve his.

    Inspiring poems

I gave this book to my daughter when she turned 16, and we both cried as she read some of the poems out loud. This book expresses the way that I feel for her and she feels for me, and would make a wonderful gift to any special daughter.
