Abandoned by her aristocratic father when she was a child, Miranda Fontaine despises the nobility. Despite her distrust, she visits the Duke of Wyldehaven on an urgent mission. Determined to keep a deathbed promise, Miranda will do whatever it takes to pin down the notorious duke . . . even if it means seducing him herself.

I loved this plot line to this story! Miranda is a caring, and overall wonderful heroine. (who also has a passion for singing) Wylde is a widower who was lost in his music. They meet under bad circumstances. Wylde is the man who fathered Miranda's friend's baby, who she now takes care of. That's not the most interesting part though. You find out that there is an imposter running around gaming hells, brothels, and the like leaving a horrid impression along with gaming debts. So who really is the father of the child... Wylde or Mr. Imposter???? (Wish there was an epilogue because the story could have ended better) BUT Overall Great Story :]
Miranda Fontaine is the illegitimate daughter of an actress and a nobleman. Her best friend Lettie has just died in childbirth and made Miranda promise to find the babies father and have him take responsibility for the baby. Miranda moves to London and faces the Duke of Wyldehaven who professes not to know anything about Lettie. Thornton Matherton, Duke of Wyldehaven, is in London to see the burial of his friend, but is suddenly confronted by people, including Miranda Fontaine, saying he has done things, that he knows he never did. But he takes responsibility for those deeds, including a baby. Someone has been impersonating him and Wylde intends to find out. I really liked this novel, I know it's an old plot of someone impersonating someone else, but I thought it was well done. I liked the Duke of Wyldehaven. I really felt his sorrow when he broke down and cried, when telling Miranda the story of his late wife and his unborn child. I think that may put some people off, but I really like a hero who can let the heroine see his soft side.
