He expected to be the topic of scandalous gossip.
He did not expect an intriguing young lady to barge into his home with the intention of saving his wicked soul.

Banished to Boston for causing the death of Lord Banbury, Lucas Dempsey vowed never to set foot on English soil again. But when his brother inherits the viscountcy and pleads for his return, the opportunity to show his contempt and loathing for the Society who turned its back on him proves to be far too enticing to resist.

When the dishonourable Lucas Dempsey steps into the ballroom after a four-year absence, Helena Ecclestone is quick to label the gentleman a murderous rogue. That is until she stumbles upon a secret conversation and feels a moral obligation to see justice done. But while the ladies swoon over his handsome countenance, Helena is determined to look beyond such superficial features, intrigued to discover the true character of the gentleman he hides beneath his arrogant façade.

Disappointed with ending , like it left you hanging .

Honesty and friendship brought them together, then love struck Helena helps solve the mystery as to who really killed Lord Banbury thus clearing Lucas' name. Unclear why no discussion occurred, in this open and honest relationship, of Lucas's interests in Boston or even a question if Helena might not prefer to live there. Then he leaves, after several occasions of unprotected sex, with the possibility of repercussions of her being pregnant also undiscussed. Felt the author missed some opportunities to develop characters and story line.

It had the right balance of intrigue, romance, steamy love scenes, and laughter inducing moments. Thoroughly enjoyable!

The heroine is smart and sensable. Who does not fall apart when things do not appear how she wants. She gives the people in her life respect before jumping to conclusions. She thinks things through without unneeded drama! Good job Ms. Cree! Thank you. Please write more clear thinking characters!

I resent my arm being twisted for my email address. I am grateful for the free book; and the book is nice (not exactly spectacular ) BUT in order to read the epilogue I must subscribe, really? ? ?

This is one of the most original and delightful books I have read. The banter between the characters has great wit and humour. I laughed aloud many times. A threat brings them together to solve a false charge of murder and prevent another or two. A scarred hero and an unconventional heroine make for a lively, fun tale. Kudos to Adele Clee. Hoping for more very soon.
