Meet the Author

At age 12, Jim McConkey dreamed of being a writer. So he did farm work, washed dishes, pumped gas, drove a school bus, delivered papers, drafted business letters, and got a BA in journalism. After irrigation in the Peace Corps, he rejoined the quest as a carpenter. His window-repair article in The Old-House Journal brought endless jobs fixing windows. He worked for Disabled Sports USA, then as a copy photographer, and lastly as a printer, writing and getting rejected as time allowed. His magnum opus, To the Far Side of Planet Earth, finally redeems the dilettante at age 67.
