I read this novella as part of the anthology A Scandalous Regency Christmas. This is an unusual story that begins when a theater owner needs to find a new leading lady ASAP. He spots a prostitute hanging around the theater door, buys her, immediately samples the goods, and then offers her a job as an actress. She's on the run from an abusive husband and finds this the perfect place to hide. Can a lady really be happy as an actress? Possibly if she can determine if Danyl really cares for her. I recommend this to anyone who wants a quick read at Christmas or anytime.
