Bronwen Evans is quickly become a favorite author of mine. She seems to have a talent for mixing heated romance with topics that are hard to experience. As the secret Sabine is hiding is what she believes to be shameful, I thought I had it figured out as the clues were dropped but it still had a bit of a twist to it that I always appreciate. Sabine has grown into a strong woman that will stop at nothing to protect what is most dear to her and if that means keeping the truth from Marcus, than she

This is the second in the Wicked Wagers series. While the first one was fun and lighthearted, this one is dark and full of danger. Sabine has paid the ultimate price for something that was not her fault. I enjoyed the interplay between Marcus and Sabine. Their attraction is sizzling and the sex scenes are very hot. There are twists and turns as the story races to its conclusion. A lot of emotion and angst in this one. I can hardly wait for the remaining story in this series.

Great 2nd book in series. Loved Marcus and Sabine.  Romantic and suspenseful. Can't wait to read 3rd book in this trilogy. The first book was awesome, too. Like this author.

Favorite book of the trilogy. Sabine's and Marcus' story was much more interesting with more happening than met the eye.  Also, in my opinion, Marcus Danvers was the sexiest of the three.

To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone is book two in the Wicked Wagers trilogy and it is a dark delightful addition. Marcus Danvers, the Marquis of Wolverstone, is a man who takes what he wants and doesn’t care who is left wanting.  A past hurt has changed him forever and if his cold demeanor doesn’t suit you, well just walk away.  He will make no apologies and will not ask for forgiveness.  His tough exterior begins to crack when the reason for his cold heart reenters his life…Sabine. Sabine Fournier has returned to London with revenge, secrets and unrequited love in her heart.  Unfortunately they are all connected to one rake, Marcus Danvers.  She must beg the former love of her life to help her get revenge on the man who ruined her future and along the way keep all her life altering secrets to herself to save the people she loves.  But first she must convince the Marquis of Wolverstone to help her. Revenge is never sweet and these two learn that the hard way.  While they work together, Sabine keeps her secrets close to her heart and Marcus must just try to protect his.  Family and friends are forward with their opinions and help, but in the end they must do it alone.  Unforeseen problems arise that endanger both Marcus and Sabine.  Will it be too late to save themselves and their love? To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone is a bit darker than the first in the series, To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield.  While I think the first could be categorized as playful competition, this one could be hurtful vengeance.  I think the extreme shift has turned many people off from the second in the trilogy, but if you have read the first one, you would remember that Marcus was rather forbearing and morose.  I have no problem enjoying this story because of it.  I think if Ms. Evans had done a complete reversal with his character, I would have faulted her for it.  She did Marcus justice by sticking with his character and following through. While To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield seemed like a complete package to me, To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone left me a little wanting.  Their past was too hurtful and secretive to be solved in a novella.  The story was still well written, but sudden changes of heart and forgiveness seemed too fast and forced.  Ms. Evans still did a nice job with the word count she was allowed, but I think the story would have been more fulfilling as a full novel.  Am I disappointed in the book? Not really and I would still recommend it, but I just wanted more depth to go with so much pain.   I am looking forward to the last in the series, To Challenge the Earl of Cravenswood.  It tells the story of the last of the bachelors, Henry St. Giles, the Earl of Cravenswood.  On that note I have something to mention, Ms. Evans has released the complete trilogy in one novel – Wicked Wagers.  It’s available now, so if you are interested I would recommend that you get the complete series in one great collection.

This was a wonderful story, I loved the characters and want to read more about the secondary characters too. A wonderful story about a hero who comes to the rescue of his longtime love. The heroine is a strong lady with courage and so much love to give. I highly recommend this book, it is a well told beautiful story.

A quickie filled with revenge, untold secrets & some ROCKING NAUGHTINESS! Sabine & Marcus had love-at-first-sight struck them hard, but they were ripped away by lies & deceit, so to protect the man she loves from possible death, Sabine has all the blame dumped on her head, as she elopes with the older rich Comte Orsini & flees to Italy. Now 10 years later, she is the rich widow Countess Orsini with a son & is back to take REVENGE against the evil nemesis who destroyed her life with Marcus, but to exact that REVENGE she needs Marcus' help. Marcus Danvers, Marquis of Wolverstone, had his heart & soul teased, used & stomped on by the devious Sabine & since then he just beds any woman opposite of her. At a Society party, he sees Sabine, turns & takes his latest mistress to lose himself with pleasure, but Sabine comes barges in as he is getting down & dirty, his mistress flees & he doesn't know if he wants to kill her or kiss her! She wants him to play & win a high stakes card game to bankrupt the man who stole all her parents money as they die penniless, but Marcus UPS it the stakes with a notorious wage of his own, if he wins he gets 24/7, 365 of Sabine's body until he has had his fill! What's a girl to do, but agree! Soon his mom the Dowager starts to meddle, untold secrets begin to unravel, an almost fiancée enters the scene, blackmail & threats are made & their NUCLEAR CHEMSTRY awaken many unwelcome feelings! Can Sabine destroy her own soul for REVANGE? Will Marcus finally get to lose himself inside Sabine's body? How much will Sabine do to save her son & Marcus? Will their passions destroy their souls? Is her innocent safe? Does their shared enemy get his baddie a$$ serves on a platter? This is the book #2 of Ms. Evans & dang she can write some undies drenching, toe curling YUMMINESS NAUGHTINESS APLENTY! Sabine started as a innocent girl from war poor parents & she was shocked that the dashing Marcus would even look at her, never mind marry her. Her love was her greatest strength, but also her worse weakness! Marcus was struck stupid when he set eyes on Sabine, but her betrayal cut his heart out of his chest & locked in a harden chest & it totally sucked that only Sabine had the key! Ms. Evans wrote such a great lost love tale, mixed it up with lies, sprinkled with devastating discoveries, turned up the heat with smoldering, tantalizing & pantie scorching goodness & it was cocked to perfection. So this quickie by Ms. Evans was packed with delicious revenge, deceit, intrigue & PULL THE FIRE ALARM DECADENTNESS, so it gets my top score of 5 toes up & 10 toes! I thought it was a wonderful story, but I almost put it down during the first chapter as I do not like the "F" word in m novels. That is the reason I read books written by women instead of men. You can put your thoughts to paper without that horrible overused word that we are all hearing too much. I finished it despite two uses of this word that most women don't like in their romance stories... and I was glad I did because the story was wonderful. Will I read this author again? Probably not if the language is rough. Sorry, that's just me.
