Gilbert Baring-Gould, the Earl of Kerr, has no plans to settle down…regardless of his fiancée Emma, who lives in the country.

But Miss Emma Loudan is no quiet country mouse.

When the earl goes too far, announcing he won’t marry until his fiancée has his ring on her finger and his baby on the way, Emma takes matters into her own hands.

Before he knows it, Gil will find that his ring—and his virtue—are no longer his own…

And he’s fighting the battle of his life to woo the woman he planned to throw away.

Meet the Author

Eloisa James is a New York Times bestselling author of historical romances, as well as a memoir, Paris in Love, which chronicles the year she and her family spent in France. A Shakespeare professor at Fordham University in New York City, she’s also the mother of two children and, in a particularly delicious irony for a romance writer, is married to a genuine Italian knight.

I would have rather spent a few dollars more and got the whole story. As it sits the characters seemed silly and shallow. Maybe taking it beyond 80 pages would have helped. Maybe not. Usually I like Eloisa James. Somehow she missed the mark this time.

Wonderfully satisfying little tale. I am only saddened and somewhat shocked by its short length! Nobe the less the characters and the evolving game they play was a delicious if brief read.

only 83 pages, not worth it, this was rushed.

The story was okay, but I felt like I paid for more than I received. I would have preferred to spend one or two more dollars and gotten a full story in return.
