Purpose: The purpose is to identify the many health problems associated with tobacco use, and to control the man-made epidemic caused by that use.
Audience: Students in medicine, public health, nursing, as well as public policy analysts should read this book. The various authors of this edited work have global reputations in their respected academic fields of study. For example, the preface of the book is written by the noted former surgeon general of the U.S., C. Everett Koop, and the first chapter of the book is by the world famous epidemiologist the late Sir Richard Doll.
Features: This book, which consists of 44 chapters, covers every aspect of tobacco use including the history of tobacco, the relationship between nicotine and addiction, the current world use of tobacco, and the role tobacco plays in various cancers, heart disease, etc.
