I dont really know what to say to express how deeply this story touched me. I cried too many times to count and thanked God every one of those times for giving me another day....because thats what each day is..a gift and not a promise. That expression stays faithful throughout this book. If you dont want a bit of spoiler stop reading now but know you may not want to read this if unprepared. This is about a woman and her family having to face letting go of someone (the woman) to sickness. It is emotional and meaningful but is extremely sad and makes you feel helpless, but grateful for your life...that is part of the meaning behind this, but is still very difficult. And to the author....thank you for this reminder.

I won a copy of this book from a contest. “What I want from you is simple. I want today only. If it’s laughter, I want it. If it’s pain, I want it. Whatever today holds, as long as the day holds you, I want it. I want today only.” WOW, what an impact that all holds. When I received this book in the mail and opened the package, the energy from the book itself was so overwhelming I had tears in my eyes. And so you ask, from just touching the book? It’s true. Once I started reading it, my feelings were validated by Ms. Love’s words as she wrote this heartwarming story. I could feel the power thru her words as I read them. The story is Rye’s life as she finds she has an inoperable brain tumor. Her daughter, Emily and her have decided to join one of the walkathons and they happen upon Jett. Jett went to school with Rye and the connection is intense. Rye isn’t sure she can allow someone into her life as she knows her own fate. But will fate connect Rye and Jett, along with Emily in a love that is undeniable regardless of the time they might have left? Amazing isn’t the right word for this story as I’m at a loss for words as to how wonderfully it was written and how it pulled every heart string I have in my own body. The book will keep Kleenex companies around the world in business. This was a fantastic read for me.

I am thankful that I got to read this book. We just lost our grandmother six months ago and this book put things into perspective. It made me laugh and cry, and I cannot believe it was free. What a wonderful gift.

A touching story about a touching subject. Having had a loving family member leave us with this type of cancer, I again felt the sorrow we as her family felt. Author D. Love brings out the realism of it all. The romance took my breath away. Well written. M.C. Arvanitis

A very heartbreaking story. Grab some tissues. But the love in this book just pours from the pages... very inspiring. I finished the book in two sittings... very very good.

Someone lent me a copy of this book and oh wow! What a heart-wrenchingly beautiful story. I have never felt emotions pulled from my soul while reading a book before. Derinda pulled though with a strong beautiful message about Rye. I encourage all book readers to hear this story of Living for the day!!

First let me address ...tears were instant for me. I am an emotional reader, emotional person, and huge sap. So yes, this review is sure to be emotion filled! I hope that doesn't keep you from discovering an amazing book! I knew in only reading the dedication this would be a book I enjoyed! And then I read the poem, and I cried. As we begin the book we learn about the secret Rye has, and we learn about her precious daughter, and then...the mysterious fella from the past. Rye is dealing with a life-altering circumstance that changes everything. Her family, friends, people around her, they all have to learn. Somehow there needs to be support, love, courage, guidance, and at the same time, memory-making, family time, and lots of love. You follow a story wrapped in truth of love, laughter, friendship, but wrought with heartache, unfair life events, and ...the inevitable sadness. But what you don't expect to gain from this book... the simple love for your family again. The pieces of life we often overlook, the moments we neglect, the family we forget, the love we hide. You remember the reasons for life itself. I was so incredibly touched. I lost my mother-too young, and to me, the book spoke of times I want to cherish, things that I wish I would have been given, and it reminded me most of all, I need to cherish every minute of every day! You never know when your time here is done. But lets be honest, there are moments you will laugh, moments you will cry, moments you will want to throw the book, and moments you will weep. D. Love has captured a moment in life like no other I've ever read. This is certainly a book I will forever treasure, love, and remember! *Thank you for the incredible honor to read and share this book!* I don't think it deserves stars, as what does a star do to a book?? I think it should be a Best Selling Politzer Novel. Something everyone should desire to read.

This is a beautifully written love story that is touching and rewarding. I closed the book with a warm heart and a new spirit. That is after the tears. There's a reason this book has such a high star rating. It’s because once you start reading it, you can’t stop because you’ll need to know. Simple as that. This book is packed full with heartache, joy and love. I haven’t read a book like this since Love Story by Erich Segal back in the 1960s. Today Only is well written from the very first sentence. “My time here is dwindling.” It’s difficult to believe that this is D. Love’s first novel. The writing is smooth and engaging until the very last word. Today Only is a love story about a woman and her struggles to accept what fate has dealt and the miracle that helps her cope with it. The story isn’t a new one, but it is one well worth the read because the way this one is written, it makes you think about life and how special each one is and most of all that our time here is limited and that we should live our days, discovering what is beautiful in them. Thank you for writing such a beautiful story, D. Love.

Today only deserves more then 5 stars in my eyes. It was such heart warming story and also a heart breaking one. It also inspires you to live for today only. It inspired me to do just that. Rye is such a lovely character I love her to pieces with her relationship with her family and her bond with them. It was like you were right there with all of them. There were some laughs and some sad moments but they all pull together to make the best of it and just live for today only. I cry many times in this book so forget the tissues and grab the toilet paper instead cause you will need a whole roll for this book I know I did. I highly recommend this book to everyone cause you will fall in love with it just like I did.

I don't know where to begin. I don't normally read books that don't involve supernatural beings or horror, so this book was a completely different experience for me. Within the first few pages, I fell in love with little Em, and from there, I fell in love with the whole family that is in this story. The premise of the book is about a young woman who is terminally ill and how she and her family, including her little girl Em, deal with it. In the midst of this, she becomes "friends" with a man that she went to school with years ago and another story line develops. This is a heart wrenching, inspirational, touching story of family, love, optimism, strength, and hope. The way the young woman and her family rally around each other and how they deal with this difficult situation is amazing and should be a lesson to live by. Her mother and her daughter are her rocks, they keep her going when she is really having a tough time. Their characters are amazingly strong while still vulnerable. It is truly a magnificent book that I feel honored to have read. The fact that I have 5 daughters myself really made this story hit home for me. I cried through most of the book, I also laughed and was in awe of the strength of the characters. The fact that this is the first book for this author is amazing to me. I wish I could say more, but I just can't without telling you the whole story, which I want to, so badly. I would give this book more stars if allowed, but alas 5 is all I can do. I would recommend this book to any and all as a must read book. Just make sure you have tissues handy, if it made me cry, you are all in trouble. One quote in particular stood out for me "A person should always be able to see beauty in something every day."

I can honestly say this is the best book I have ever read and trust me I have read a lot of books. I do not think I will ever be the same after reading such a beautiful and heartfelt story. I am still crying and trying to type through the tears. Be prepared to have a huge box of kleenex with you when you read this book. D tried to prepare me and now I am passing this on to you. Rye has an illness that will inevitably take her life. She lives with her mother Dee and young daughter Em. Together they focus on making beautiful memories for Rye and Em. The last thing on Rye's mind is meeting a handsome and caring man. In walks Jett who is tall, strong and everything Rye has dreamed of, but how can she begin a relationship knowing her time left is so short? Lucky for her, Em and Jett conspire to bring them together. The love that this family shares is so beautiful and inspiring. The selfless acts each of the family members show each other has touched my soul. Dee reading to her daughter each night, Em writing down her memories, Jett trying to make each day special and especially Rye for always having hope. I can't express how deeply I have been affected by this story, but I will leave you with this question Jett asks Rye every day. "What is beautiful in your world today?" Reading Today Only made my world beautiful today. .

I will start by saying this, I don't normally read anything except Fantasy and Paranormal unless a friend asks me to check out their book and I'm amazed every time I agree simply cause the stories are amazing. A friend of mine who is also friends with D. said "Cu.. you HAVE to read this book! I know it's not something you'd normally read but you just have to." They went so far as to gift my broke behind a copy of it. I don't regret agreeing to help out and R2R this book. I was hooked from the very first sentence. Though in hindsight, a warning to have some tissues near by would have been nice. This is a very emotional book. From the very beginning the reader slides effortlessly between Jett's and Rye's narations. While you feel THEIR emotions, you also pick up clearly on Dee and little Em's. Em's may be the most heart breaking of all. I admit my first tears fell while I read her notes. In my opinion this book has entirely too much of a personal feel to it to have been plucked out of thin air, and if I'm wrong in my assumption, then D. Love is a true literary genius. This story is a rare gem in a sea of stories. Only the malicious or dead of heart would think otherwise. One thing I can say, this story would probably have killed me from all the tears, if it weren't for the quirky little funny things laced through the pages. Whether one line, a look, a poem, or accidental meeting, they will quickly dispel the sorrow you feel and make you crack up. I loved how the stories is riddled with the names with bloggers and authors every fan of the indie world knows. How special they must all feel to be listed there! Trust me anyone who follows our world will know who every blogger is it's made quite clear and as the reader progresses and names appear, book covers and blog banners will merrily float through their heads. They did for me at any rate lol. I have to wonder if this is really how it is when they all get together..It seems a little intimidating! This book will show you what truly matters in life...It will make you smile, and it will definitely make you cry. I've seen the kind heart and soul D.Love has first hand, even with the simplicity of gifting someone a book with the advice to "Pay it forward when you can". I see the sorrow in her eyes in every picture she posts of herself. If this book is any indictation of things she herself has gone through in her life, then all I can say is I HAVE seen beauty..I saw it in D.Love and this amazing book For all the emotions and the message this story brings, I give this book 5 of 5 paws I end this review with a question for you all... Wow how do you put so many emotions into a review. I can not find the words powerful enough to describe this book. You will be laughing one minute and crying the next. the Author pushed her limits with this book. I loved the well round characters. My favorite being little Em, she was perfect for a child of 10 years old. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This book is by far one of the most emotional reads I have ever encountered. The strength behind the characters are beyond profound. It's hard to lose a loved one but when you fall in love with someone that is at the brink of death it's even harder. At first the story made me smile, the why Rye and Jett met, but as the story unfolds it was a real heart wrenching love story, The stength that Rye display's is beyond words. A story to remind us just how fragile life is and how a simple I love you to a loved one can mean so much.

This book had me ugly crying all the way through. I usually read paranormal books, but I decided to give this one a try because of all the great reviews. I am so glad I did. This book will pull at your heart strings from the very first paragraph. I definitely loved this book and recommend it to anyone who needs a good cry!!!

What would you do if you were told you life was ticking away. You have a daughter you love and other wonderful family members there as well. Would you take a chance at love? Would you give up or would you enjoy what time you have left? This is a story of what one woman decides to do. Rye is such an amazing character. I connected to her right away and loved her out look on life. She is a wonderful mom, very driven and does not quit going. Jett is the type of man you hope all guys can be. He is smart, sexy and very caring. He truly has a heart of gold. Little Em will grab your heart from the start and you will fall in love with her right away. All the characters in this book will touch your heart in some way and they will stay there. When I was told about this book I was told it will make you cry. I said that is ok I hardly ever cry. I sure do regret saying that. I cried like a baby reading this book. I'm talking snot bubbles and just a blubbering mess. This book touched my heart on so many levels. I am not going to go into a lot of details as I think everyone should read this book and it's so hard not to say why and not spoil the book. I have started my review several times and couldn't do it as the story would come back fresh and I would cry again. I made myself quit stalling and finally review it today. This story is full of love, laughter and tears. You feel like you are a member of this family as you turn the pages. What they go through you go through as well. You get to see both Rye and Jett's POV and the author did a wonderful job with writing this book. I look for it to be a big huge hit and if not there is something wrong with the world. For this being the authors first book I am absolutely amazed. You would think she has been writing for years. This book touched me in very personal ways that I won't go into but once you read it if you have ever been in a similar situation I'm sure you will agree the author did a fantastic job describing the emotions you go through. If you want an emotionally wonderful book that will always stay with you pick this book up. Pick up tissues while you at it.

A good conductor knows how to work the tools available to him or her. By allowing some things to be emphasized and others to be suppressed, he can make his audience feel a certain way. Then, can turn things around by changing the mix, and leading the audience to feel something totally different. By the time the concert is over, audience members have been through a rainbow of emotions. Derinda Love crafts words in the way a conductor works with tones. “Today Only” is a love story about a woman dealing with cancer who finds her dream man has entered her life. Told from the alternating perspectives of the woman – Rye – and the man – Jett – with 3rd-person insights from Rye's mother and daughter interspersed, “Today Only” is an emotional symphony. Ms. Love made me smile (she never quite succeeded in “laughing”, but I don't think she was really aiming for it). Ms. Love made me frown. Ms. Love made me gasp in surprise. Ms. Love made me – yes, I will admit it – cry. If this is what she can do with a 98 page (in pdf format) novella, I would like to see what she can do with something longer – intermixing additional characters and subplots and such. What do you think, Derinda? Are you up for it? Rating: 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5 since most rating systems don't allow fractions of stars.

If I could give more stars for this book I totally would - This book is wonderfully written - it will tug at your heartstrings and make you laugh and cry at the same time - it tells the story of a young woman with a child and all the trials that she goes through once she finds out about her tumor - it also tells the story from Jett's point of view of when he met Rye and Emily and fell in love - this book doesn't leave you hanging and wondering at the end of what happens when the inevitable happens - it goes on to tell you how everyone survives a year later - this book will give you a sense of relief knowing that someone who is terminally will find relief in leaving us and that we should not mourn their passing but celebrate their memory --- and what a beautiful question that is asked everyday --- "WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL IN YOUR WORLD TODAY?" - I would highly recommend this book to everyone to read and also a box of tissues -- Thank you Derinda Love for writing Rye and Jett's story

A year ago, Rye was given the diagnosis everyone dreads. She has cancer, a brain tumor that is inoperable. As she grows weaker, she worries about her 10-year old daughter, Em, her mother, Dee, and the rest of her family. She tries to hide her pain and worry so that she does not increase the suffering for her loved ones. During a charity walk with her daughter, she runs into a classmate from high school, Jett. They are immediately drawn to each other, but Rye resists. She doesn’t want to burden this man with the road she sees ahead of herself. This is a love story, but they get married when we are only half way through the book That's because it was also a story about the miracle of life, a lesson to cherish each day with the ones you love, and a reminder to make memories while you can. We are reminded that nobody is promised tomorrow. This book was absolutely awesome. I laughed and cried and then bawled like a baby. You should have heard hubby during chapter 23. He was making me laugh so hard while I was bawling like a baby. - "I need to speak to that author"… "making grown women cry like little girls." It was great! This book is destined to be the gift we give others during their time of mourning. Easily read. I believe it would be easily read even when your world is falling apart. This may be the book to help your friend find peace and believe that they have not said “good-bye,” but merely, “see you soon.”

A very emotional story with characters that I fell in love with. A story that reminded me to find the wonderful things in life everyday and to enjoy them while I have them. I experienced everything from joy to heartbreak and laughter to tears. A different kind of love story that shows love in a few different forms. I found inspiration and strength within the words I read, that I didn't know I had or needed. I don't want to say anything specific and give away any part of the amazing journey that is reading this book. I highly recommend this as a "to be read" book as well as challenge everyone to find their beautiful today!

The surroundings of Maine sound wonderful and a place I have never been to before but is now on my “to visit” list. Author Derinda Love took me to the Kennebec River, and wow what a river. This is where Rye met Jet, and they recall knowing each other at school. One of the reasons why I loved this book was because of Rye, her strengths, her weaknesses, love and understanding. She makes me feel I have gone through her motions throughout Today Only. Em is Rye’s daughter and throughout this book has strength beyond what I can comprehend a child to have. She touches the hearts of everyone and not in an annoying ‘favorite’ way. She has wisdom I wish some grown-ups could have! The strength in the family is a page turner. The love Em has for her mother is unique and very special. She took her mum to do a run with her and was proud to, which is what all families should be like. She goes for ice cream like children aged Ten do. She calls her mum “mama” and I like the innocence of that. Today Only has a strong family connection of characters like Rye’s mother …… and Jet’s father Madison. It is a family strength I wish I had 10% of but to no such luck. Whilst all of her characters are very important in the book and all have a role in Rye’s future, Rye herself is the main focus in the book. It is told through Rye and Jet’s point of view and they both sing from the same hymn sheet when it comes to their feelings and shows a united front in that them being sou-lmates. The biggest theme of Today Only is Rye’s illness and her strength to carry on and make sure her life is not dictated to by an hour glass. We all have the hourglass whether it being late for an appointment, an over run meeting at work. The book makes those feel non-existent when it is a life. We all have ways of coping with such heartache of a loss of a puppy and we all cope if we know something bad has happened in all different ways. Derinda takes us through the eyes of a child in her closet, and her release. Absolutely touching and breath taking. I absolutely loved reading this book and am honored to write a review. I would give this book nothing less than 5 stars, but, I did spend more money on tissues than I did the book! This is a budding author and I have a feeling we shall be seeing more of Derinda Love. Congratulations on a fantastic book.

I received this book as a gift and to give an honest review. Well, I am one in giving reviews I don't like to give away what the book is about but this book is different. I feel like the book is based around my life. First off a 5 star review isn't as high as I would give this book. Very well written and touched home in a lot of ways. When the book starts off Rye has a daughter Em and they both live with Rye's mom Dee. Rye has cancer. She runs into Jett a guy she went to school with. They became great friends when they reconnected. Well, In a scene of the book Rye is in an accident. What Rye went through in that accident happened to me. Not sure if dead or alive. My sister is a cancer survivor so that part had touch home. Lots of things happen through out the book which some happy and laughing parts and some MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN INVESTMENT IN TISSUES. There are some lessons learned in the book and one is "The Grass isn't always Greener on the other side" You make the mistake and should learn from it. Love when Dee is in a grocery store and comes across and elderly couple she helps them out and tells them maybe someday they can pay it forward. Dee is an angel in her own way. Dee is such a sweet lady. Dee who is by her daughter's side through this all is a blogger. When they go to a convention they meet all her "ONLINE" friends like I have. Only I haven't met them in person. Reading about the convention and seeing Dee run around getting all the swag should could not only made Rye tired but I got tired as well. Loving the nicknames Jett was getting from the women was quite comical. Rye who looks at life one day at a time. She finds something beautiful everyday. Jett fell in love with Rye and when he found out that she was dying he chose to stick by her and continue to love her and Em. I felt all the pain Rye had suffered. I also wanted to go through my Kindle and into the book to belt someone for hurting Rye. I really love books when you feel your part of the book in one way or another. Everything Rye went through reminded me of what must have been going through my aunt's mind. My aunt passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. Today is the anniversary of her death. Very hard to read this book but I wanted to finish it. I finished it and so glad I did. I want to thank D.Love for writing such a fabulous book. Well worth the tears and the laughter. It is funny how I was reading this book and events that had occurred in my life were in the book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Right from the start I can feel the anguish Rye Silcox is feeling. Her urgency to be with her daughter, to see her grow, to not miss anything. Her daughter Em, what a breath of fresh air she is. Had me laughing and crying and then laughing again. Em just wriggles right into your heart from the very start of this book. Jett, what can you say, well exactly what Em says "Bow Chicha Wow Wow" - LOL. Come on military man, nice body, good looking, caring, loving, devoted, completely amazing. Yes my heart melted. I love how gentlemanly he is, call me old fashioned but I love a man who respects women enough to open doors, pay for meals, hold their hands, etc. I may be independent but to me that is a sign of a strong man who can endure all things and sadly there are too few of those left. Jett had my heart aching for him. Crying my eyes out at the losses he has suffered. Reading him talk about it, the losses, trying to deal with it - you can feel what he is feeling. Author Derinda Love did an amazing job drawing you into their lives, into the story, making the store the here and now. I felt like I was a character sitting in the same room everyone else was in. I think I cried and laughed more in this book, within the very same page even, than I have in any other book I have ever read. Everything the characters in this book go through, every emotion, it just pours out of the pages. I I know what it is to be a struggling single mom, it has been my life's story. But to be a single mom who is dying with a 10 year old daughter - how heartbreaking. Rye has an amazing support system with lots of love from family and friends. But her one dream has never come true. Jett could be that dream. But with her diagnosis she just refuses to go there. She feels as though it is an unobtainable dream and unfair to Jett. Let me suggest - don't read this book while you are at work, especially at your desk while your system is down. I am not a big fan of spoilers, but I have to say, the car accident scene in this book completely ripped my heart apart. I was blubbering at my desk uncontrollably and yes everyone was staring at me like I had lost it. Well I did lose it LOL. The scene is so moving, so heart wrenching and so touching all at one time. As heart wrenching as that was, what Rye learns from it sets her onto a whole new path, one of discovery, life and love. I really enjoyed watching Rye go down this new path. Seeing her experience her dream. I loved one of the sayings Rye and her sister Katy mention. Something their mom always says. "Always remember the bread and butter. When two things belong together, you cannot separate them." Simple yet very powerful words right there. This book was very hard for me to read - having lost my mother to a year long battle with one of the most aggressive and fast spreading cancers, the loss of my mom was ever present throughout this entire book. And yes the last few chapters of this book were the most heart wrenching, moving, emotional and touching. The words within the last few chapters are very profound and will be with me always. I close this review by saying thank you Derinda for such an amazing, heart felt, passionate, funny, touching, loving, emotional roller coaster of a ride. My heart is so much better for having read this book. And I dedicate this review to my mother Ruth Ann Gauthier - gone from this earth but never gone from my heart.
