Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-A charming concept book with butterfly flaps that unfold like pop-ups. Two youngsters take turns discovering things that come in twos: their hands, arms, eyes, feet, etc. Fabric illustrations with sewn and painted details are done in rich colors and add interest to this engaging interactive board book. The text is simple, repetitive, and straightforward-in other words, perfect for the intended audience.-JoAnn Jonas, Carlsbad City Library, San Diego, CA Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.
Leonard S. Marcus
Given the relative dearth of Asian faces in other board books, it's refreshing to see the cute-as-a-button kids depicted in this one. Simple text and drawings with fold-out flaps show youngsters that eyes, ears, hands, and feet generally come in pairs as do friends.

Kirkus Reviews
Suen's (Delivery, 1999, etc.) simple tale celebrates the number two. As a pair of Asian-American toddlers gleefully scamper about their yard, they learn about the significance of the numeral. From ears to legs, these inquisitive tots investigate the many pairs that comprise their anatomy: two hands build a sandcastle; two feet race down the yard to kick a ball; two legs purposefully propel a swing; and so forth. The simple, repetitive prose simultaneously introduces body parts while reinforcing the concept of the number."Two is the number / just for you. / Two hands, / one, two." Suen's brief verses are accompanied by a two-page spread, each containing either a lift-the-flap or a fold-out flap. Cheon's full-color collages expand the tale. The ingeniously designed flaps convey both movement and energy in the illustrations; a picture of the boy with his arms behind his back unfolds to reveal his arms outstretched as he throws his dog a bone, for instance. Utilizing stitching to accentuate textures and details on the vibrantly colored materials, she creates vivid, multidimensional pages for little ones to peruse. The sturdily constructed flaps and pages will withstand repeated handlings. Simply told and winsomely illustrated, this captures the ebullience of toddlerhood. A treat to be shared again and again.
