Lots of How-to and great patterns

Wendy Johnson did a great job with this book. I bought it because I intended to take a class about toe-up socks with her at my local yarn store, but ended up missing the class because I had surgery that week. However, it turned out that the book is really informative, and I didn't even really need the class since the directions in the book are so good. (Although I would still take the class if I got another chance to!)

This book has directions on knitting socks on double-pointed needles, two circular needles and/or the magic loop technique. It also has instructions to knit different types of toes and heels. The patterns are all beautiful and vary from cables to lace to colorwork. I think this would be a good resource for anyone who is fairly good at figuring out knitting techniques from a book. I'll definitely be keeping it not only as a pattern reference, but also for the design and knitting techniques.
