Overview

The Underworld in civil war.
The cause? A witch who can reanimate the dead.
A sexy as sin vampire determined to claim her.
An infuriatingly handsome warlock torn between duty and love.
Who says blonds have more fun?

After defending herself against fairy magic, Jolie Wilkins wakes to find her world turned upside down-the creatures of the Underworld on the precipice of war.

The Underworld is polarized in a battle of witch against witch, creature against creature, led by the villainous Bella, who would be Queen.

While Jolie has one goal in mind, to stake the vampire, Ryder, who nearly killed her, she also must choose between the affections of her warlock employer, Rand, and the mysteriously sexy vampire, Sinjin.

And as if that weren't enough to ruin a girl's day, everything Jolie knows will be turned inside out when she's thrust into the shock of a lifetime.

Meet the Author

I started my writing career as a self-published author and was lucky enough to hit both the Amazon and the Barnes and Noble bestseller’s lists with my two series, the Jolie Wilkins series and the Dulcie O’Neil series. Most recently I hit the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists with my Jolie Wilkins books!

I signed with Random House (Bantam imprint) to write three books in the Jolie Wilkins series (Witchful Thinking, The Witch is Back and Something Witchy This Way Comes). Now I love the fact that I’m both a traditionally published author as well as a self-published one (with my Dulcie O’Neil series).

I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.

My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.

Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!
H.P.

2nd Book in the Jolie Wilkins series. Still feel like this book

2nd Book in the Jolie Wilkins series. Still feel like this book drags more than her other series, and most definitely ends in a cliff hanger way. I do like going deeper into Rand's past. However, I feel like Sinjin's character is a light switch, it's either on or off, two completely types of characteristics and very little in between. I will read the other books because I am curious to see where the story goes.

I never thought I would give a light paranormal romance book a 5 rating, but I really did love Toil and Trouble! Sure it is fluff, sure it’s a bit of a romance, sure there are vampires, witches, werewolves, fairies, and demons….but you know what, this was a delightfully fun read.

This is the second book in the Jolie Wilkins Series. Now that Jolie has won the faeries over to their side of the war (Yes, that’s a bit of a spoiler, but come one, did you ever doubt that Odran would join the fight?), the different groups of Underworld creatures have set up encampments on the grounds of Pelham Manor in order to train for battle, which leads to some very funny situations. While preparing for the war, Sinjin and Rand continue battling it out for the right to be Jolie’s “man”. This provides us with some great scenes, not only sexy but funny, too.

I enjoyed reading this book so much that I was sad when it was over. It is most definitely a romance book with some of its more graphic scenes, but H.P. Mallory has a great sense of humor that the book never does take it self too seriously, making it loads of fun to read. The series is very similar to Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series but is different enough for readers of that series to enjoy.

    LOVED IT!!!

I absolutely love this series, and I am now hooked!!This book was so hard to put down, and I was thoroughly impressed.

The characters are great and HP is such a talented author. The way she pulls you into the story you feel like you are there. I just wish I was the one getting all of the attention from Rand and Sinjin. Well ok, mainly Sinjin, he is one hot vampire!!

I can't wait to read the next one and see where the story takes us. Thanks HP for another great series!!
