Overview

This atlas includes both rail and road maps for the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, with place names given in both English and Japanese. Immediately adjacent areas are also shown, such as parts of Chiba, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Yamanashi, Kanagawa, and Saitama prefectures as well as cities like Mito, Tsukuba, Omiya, Urawa, Kawasaki, and Yokoyama.

Since the original edition of this book was published, the transportation network of the metropolitan has undergone a good many changes. In the case of the subway system, some lines have been extended, and some rapid-transit lines have been added. In addition, as a result of the integration and abolition of some ministries and companies, a number of buildings in the metropolitan area have disappeared or changed location. These developments are covered in this updated edition.

This book is a life saver. I use it to convert the English place names to Kanji. I carry it with me every time I travel. The only way this could be improved is to show each of the railroad lines separately so the reader could find his or her way along the train lines.
