Longing for the why answers? Here's some good ones. Thoughtfully and wonderfully written. At times it seems you can almost hear the fire crackle and see the pipe smoke wreath around the heads of men who, did not know how much the would come to mean to us....on BOTH sides of the "pond"

Very few insights in this dull and repetitious book. There are much better books on Tolkien and Lewis available; this one is amateurish.

An absolutely wonderful book. An insightful chronicle of the friendship between two brilliant Christian men who both changed how stories were written and how faith can be expressed. The sci-fi/fantasy section of your local bookstore did not exist before Tolkien and Lewis published their works. Colin Duriez really makes this a cozy read and it is a must for any fan of either J.R.R. Tolkien or C.S. Lewis.
