I received this book when I was 9 years old and have consistently gone back to it time and again to not only to ease my readings (and re-readings of the books), but have also used it as an entertaining book unto itself. The entries are detailed and informative and offer much insight into the worlds that Tolkien created, and the illustrations are lush and gorgeous. It is stunning and impressive in its complexities and nuances, and should be on the shelf of anyone who has ever enjoyed the works of Tolkien.

This is a great book for people who, while reading the Lord of the Rings, forget what or who goes along with certain names or places. It can help decipher the book for those who may need help or just want to learn more about the characters, cultures, and places in the book.
