A must read for all friends of Tolkien

The most insightful collection of essays reviewing Tolkien's works and his writing style that I have ever come across, and I have succeeded in reviewing almost all in print. Mr. Pierce's non-academic, non-pompous, non-condescending writing style is enjoyable. These essays have a unique perpsective that truly hits the mark and provides the reader with substantiated insight into why Tolkien probably wrote what he did. Other reviewers and literary critics should take this work by Pierce as a challenge that just raised the bar they have to meet, since no other reviewer or literary critic to date has had the courage or intellect to share Joesph Pierce's insight!
