    great book

I have read this book and studied this book. I take this book on every hiking and hunting trip I go on. I have personally read the book three times. Bottom line, the man knows what he is talking about.

    Required Reading

This book should be required reading for anyone who spends time outdoors. Anyone would benefit from the wealth of knowledge that it contains. I have not seen any other survival book that even comes close to the level of usefulness, because they all focus on survival gear. For anybody interested in this topic this is the only book/author I would ever recommend.

    one of the best

Tom Brown must be one of the best outdoorsman I have ever heard of. He had a big part in the tracking/knifemaking aspects of the film, 'The Hunted.' His expertise is unmatched.

    Geared towards woods survival

Like most survival books, this one focuses heavily on woods and mountain survival. That's fine if you get stranded in such a place, not so fine if you're in a jungle, desert, or arctic environment. For those other environments I don't think this book has nearly enough practical information, and I would definitely recommend additional reading for those parts of the world!

    Entertaining read

Tom Brown is an entertaining author and I enjoyed his book. However, if you are in search of literature that helps you understand 'Wilderness Survival' I'd advise purchasing Gregory J Davenport's book (titled Wilderness Survival). It is an easy to follow text which will guide you through the learning process of how to survive the unforeseen.

    Best Book Ever

I am only 13, but this was by far the best book i've ever read. I have read dozens of books, but this was the funest and most intertaing. The only book that comes close is the Way of the Scout.

What he does cover is well presented. However, this is a 287 page book that has barely a page and a half about navigation. His advise is basically, don't get lost. I read The Tracker, so I get that he spent his entire childhood living on the Pine Barrens for months at a time with nothing but whatever he happened to have in his pockets when he left the house that day. But for those of us who are actively interested in being found or getting out of a survival situation, there are other much better books out there.

    good book

this book is about the best survival book you're going to find.I've read alot of survival books but this one's got a better understanding as far as suvival. if you read his book you should have a idea of what you need in a survival kit. read other books also and use common sense as what your kit contains

Great Book, Got me started in primitive Skills

Got this book when I was 15 and lapped it up like a cat to milk! Lots of good information and tips. Accurate depictions of tools and crafted items and its easy to read and understand. THe only problum is it did not have a very good Survival kit list. A Pocket knife is NOT enough bladeware! The Ridge Runner
