After arriving late at her family's summer cottage, a little girl goes to bed anticipating what she and her brother will accomplish the following day with their parents. The tone of the story is one of breathless excitement (there are few periods and much use of the word "and" in the text), and the narration aptly portrays the eagerness of the girl, who can't wait for the next day to begin. Watercolors outlined in ink lovingly detail an action-packed day of fishing and swimming. Reiser also includes plenty of wildlife--fish, loons, moose, and other creatures--for children to search out in the pictures. A nice addition to vacation collections.
