Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Loosing a first tooth can be a pretty scary experience, but young readers of this book will learn that a loose tooth can be fun to play with. The book expresses that everyone loses his/her baby teeth, and that although it can be hard to eat with a loose tooth, when it falls out a new one will replace it. In the meantime, kids can make the most of it by wiggling a loose tooth no matter where they are or what they are doing. Cartoon characters throughout portray children wiggling their teeth with huge smiles on their faces. Although this may be a good introduction to young readers on the subject of baby teeth falling out, the text feels empty because it mostly focuses on just the "wiggling" aspect, and it comes across as redundant, rather than educationally repetitive. This title is a level A, Emergent Reader within the "A Rookie Reader" series. 2004, Scholastic, Ages 3 to 6.
