For those interested in actually learning modern standard Arabic and not just passing the class, this is a must. It lists words and phrases that recur on the news such as "prime minister" and "car bomb." This book is indeed one of the best investments you can make towards your Arabic studies if this language is crucial to your career. It has given me the edge above other students in a very intense Arabic course. The only flaw I would point out at all is that the words are separated by subject they aren't sub-categorized by subject, but by type--verb, noun, etc.

This book does have a lot of handy words and phrases that are used in newscasts, but is more of a list than a dictionary. It's organized by subject, but within that, the words are listed in random order. It's not worth the listed price, but if you can pick it up cheaper, go for it.
