Overview
Praise for this book:
Innovative...the descriptions are accurate and concise - exactly what the examiner wants to hear...it would be difficult to find a better high-yield, high-quality textbook covering every subsection of the radiology oral board examination.--JAMAy
Extremely useful...This review book is not only rewarding but also a resource radiologists can continue to refer to throughout their careers.--Academic Radiology
Provides an excellent selection of cases for sharpening diagnostic radiology considerations...useful for board preparation and review.--Doody's Review
Top 3 Differentials in Radiology: A Case Review is a practical case-based reference that will enable radiologists and radiology residents to hone their skills in developing differential diagnoses for common imaging findings. Presented as unknowns, the cases are arranged into twelve main sections based on radiology subspecialties. The book presents each case as a two-page unit. The left page features clinical images and a brief description of the clinical presentation. The right page provides the key imaging finding, Top 3 differential diagnoses, additional differential diagnoses, the final diagnosis, and imaging pearls. The final section of the book contains selected cases from all radiology subspecialties with distinctive imaging findings that should lead definitively to a single diagnosis.
Features:
With its emphasis on gaining a solid foundation in differential diagnoses for the full range of key imaging findings encountered in clinical practice, this book is ideal for individuals preparing for the initial American Board of Radiology examination as well as more experienced radiologists preparing for recertification examinations.

From The Critics
Reviewer: Richard Tupler, MD(Ochsner Clinic Foundation)Description: This case-based book covers the core knowledge in radiology using question-and-answer case studies with the top three differential diagnoses.
Purpose: This book presents 325 case studies across the radiology subspecialties to challenge readers, and finds its greatest use as a tool for self assessment and radiology board preparation.
Audience: The target audience includes radiology residents and fellows as well as practicing radiologists. The book provides an excellent selection of cases for sharpening diagnostic radiology considerations. The emphasis on differential diagnosis and pertinent radiological findings in a case review format is particularly useful for board preparation and review.
Features: The cases are arranged into 12 main sections based on radiology subspecialties such as musculoskeletal, chest, and neuroradiology, for example. The 700 high-quality images effectively depict the key imaging findings for the 325 case studies. The cases are presented as unknowns on the left-hand page (based on common imaging findings). The key imaging finding of the case is then presented on the right-hand page along with three leading differential diagnoses. Additional supportive information and teaching points related to each differential diagnosis are provided. The final diagnosis is noted, followed by additional imaging pearls intended to highlight the important teaching points along with suggested related references. The last section contains selected cases from all the radiology subspecialties with distinctive imaging findings, the so-called "Aunt Minnie." Welcome features are the indexes, one of differential diagnoses by case and one based on key findings.
Assessment: This would be a very good resource for residents to assess their knowledge and prepare for board examinations. It also would serve as a broad, high-yield review and self-assessment tool for practicing radiologists. This is an easy to read and efficient study tool.
