Disappointing meals (and there are a lot of them on Maui) can totally ruin a dream vacation. Don't leave your planning to chance or rely on slick advertising-driven guides. Other tourist books with their capsule "reviews" don't come close to the insight you'll get from opinionated, knowledgeable restaurant critics who live on Maui.
Food journalists James and Molly Jacobson are two big-city-exiles who live on Maui and dine out an average of 11 times per week. Their honest, take-no-prisoners review guide is written with the philosophy that people who love to eat and prefer not to waste money on bad food should know the truth about Maui's well-marketed dining scene.

Dining out on Maui is more expensive than any place else in America. For less than the price of a bad breakfast, this handbook could save your vacation.
Without a doubt, this restaurant review book is the best money we spent on our Maui vacation. The friendly guide is filled with truly useful reviews of restaurants--many of which we wouldn't have tried if it weren't for this book.
The Jacobsons also tell you which restaurants to avoid and are extremely honest in their reviews. I am certain that we would have wasted a lot of money at well-promoted tourist traps if it were not for this book.
The most important thing is the restaurants we did find thanks to the book. We had the best sushi dinner of our lives at a tiny hole-in-the-wall place that the guide reveals. We also found a fantastic place for breakfast that we would have thought was a tourist trap--but had the best waffles I have ever tasted.
We like Maui Revealed for activities and snorkeling, but we were very disappointed in the restaurant reviews in that ubiquitous blue book. If you want to know where to eat, you got to get Top Maui Restaurants-- it was a God-send.
