The very moment Derrick meets Sarah, he realizes he has a reason to live. Sarah sees only an unshaven tough kid covered with tattoos and shuts down every advance.

Sarah Thomas has no memory of her broken young life leading up to the tragic murder of her mother. Her memory begins the morning she wakes in the home of her loving adoptive parents. She doesn't even know her sisters exist until her 15th year. She learns to love her siblings, but always feels a little out of place in their presence.

A benevolent billionaire offers Derrick DiNunzio a home and an education. Fresh off the streets and rescued from a criminal future, Derrick sheds his old life. He trades his ripped leather jacket for silk suits; dealing drugs for mentoring "at risk" youth; lock picking and back door jobs for the rigors of mountain climbing and hotel management.

Sarah cannot seem to see beyond the past Derrick left behind ... until one day she does. When they finally come together, an indictment threatens their future. Now the heat is on. Will Sarah finally set aside her prejudices and open her heart to true love or will the long forgotten past tear them apart forever?

Editorial Reviews

Love 2 Read Novels - Sherry Kuhn
Topaz Heat is an excellent romantic suspense! The story was very well written and seemed to have the perfect blend of suspense, romance and intrigue, with some splashes of humor along the way. I fell in love with the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction of the 'family' and the closeness they shared. I really appreciated the underlying message that, as believers, we are new creatures in Christ and that our old self is done away with.
Romancing the Book - Desere Steenberg
This was the final book in the Jewel Trilogy from one of the best authors I have ever come across. The book once again reminded me that God is the one that if you believe He will have you achieve.

Meet the Author

Hallee Bridgeman lives with her husband and their three children in small town Kentucky. When she's not writing Christian romance novels, she blogs about all things cooking and homemaking at www.HalleeTheHomemaker.com.

Hallee started writing when her oldest child and only daughter was a baby, but a busy professional career and being the wife of a deployed soldier had her shelve her books for another time. Two more children, a cross country move, and God's perfect timing brought the books back to be dusted off and presented to you now.

Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit. She prays her books are a blessing to you and would love to hear back from you.

This has been a wonderful series. I enjoyed each book in the Jew

This has been a wonderful series. I enjoyed each book in the Jewel Trilogy. Topaz Heat is the final one. Another great inspirational book by Hallee. I look forward to future books written by Hallee. This one is the story of Sarah. Sarah is a half sister to Maxine and Robin. Sarah can pretty much get along with everyone in the family except for Derrick DeNunzio who was taken in by Tony who is Robin’s husband. Taught him the hotel business. He worked his way up to be a decent person. He in turn is in love with Sarah. Can Sarah have a change of heart? Wonderful Christian Romance.

    Topaz Heat by Hallee Bridgeman
Topaz Heat is book three in the Jewel Trilogy. I have enjoyed this series a great deal. Sarah is the youngest of three half sisters born into a life of hardship. She was being raised by a drug addict mother and her two young sisters doing their best to protect her when her mother and boyfriend are murdered. She was then adopted with no memories before she awake in her adopted family’s home. She finally meets her sisters when she is fifteen but has no recollection of them. Sarah Thomas first meets Derrick DiNunzio when her sister’s fiancé brought him into his home to escape a life of crime and get a fresh start. She disliked him for first sight. Derrick was raised on the South side of Boston, he was a hooligan destined for trouble when he was given the chance to become something more. He has worked hard to turn his life around and has climbed to the top. Derrick has found a deep faith and love. He was with Sarah when she regained her memory and while praying with her he accidentally reveals he loves her and always has. Just as they make peace and finally have a chance at true love and happiness Derrick’s world comes crashing down when he is accused of a terrible crime. His dedication and faith in this trial is an inspiration, but can Sarah’s faith help her overcome her fear of turning out like her deceased mother. This is a superb book that brings faith to the forefront. The author Hallee Bridgeman has a true gift; she showed what true romance truly is in a wholesome clean way that was both believable and inspirational. I can not wait to read her next book A Melody for James. I highly recommend this book.

I’m sorry to see the series end!
Topaz Heat is the final book in the Jewel series. I’d been anticipating Sarah and Derrick’s book since reading Greater Than Rubies and was not disappointed! They have both grow up a lot since we first met them, but are still bickering as much as usual. I loved seeing the family from their points of view and finally understanding what caused the constant disagreements between them.
Like each of Hallee Bridgeman’s books, Topaz Heat has a very strong Christian aspect. The main focus is on the truth that we are all made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that our past is put behind us when we become Christians. It also reminds us to trust God no matter what life may throw our way.
The only negative thing I can think to say about Topaz Heat is that chapter 23 (the final chapter) seemed a little abrupt to me. But, the only things I can think of that she could have added to ease the ending would have just seemed tedious, so I guess I wouldn’t change it after all.
As much as I enjoyed the book, I was very disappointed to reach the end of the series. I’d fallen in love with all of the characters and hated to see it end. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction with a strong element of faith and romance!
I received this book through The Book Club Network for my honest opinion, which I have given.
