An easy-to-understand introduction to Judaism's most sacred text

This accessible guide explains the Torah in clear language, even to those who were not raised in the Jewish religious tradition. Christians who want to know more about the Jewish roots of Christianity need to understand the Torah, as do followers of Islamic tradition and those interested in the roots of Abrahamic faiths. As someone who's looking for the real deal when studying something seriously but at the same time needs a solid fundamental foundation I was a bit hesitant about buying this book. I have to report that Arthur Kurzweil (the author) did an amazing job. He starts out with defining basic terms and phrases present throughout his book, and then discusses the 5 Books of Moses in a manner in which he doesn't only retell the "story" but takes the time to discuss interpretations of the Torah and associates them with general concepts about Judaism. If you're someone who needs to get the basics down about the Torah but doesn't mind getting a "little" extra, this is for you. Very useful book!
