Meet the Author

Author Barry Shafier has been a practicing Rabbi for over ten years. A teacher at the high school level, Shafier saw firsthand how young people today are struggling with serious life issues. “Life doesn’t come with an instruction book, but it sure does seem that we could use one. It’s almost as if we are out of touch with some of the bedrock basics of being a human being.”  Rabbi Shafier realized that not only were young people grappling with these issues but so were their families. “People today are searching for the reasons, asking real questions, and looking for real answers to understand life,” comments Rabbi Shafier.

Truly a great book to read!

Reading this book brings back great memories of Rabbi Shafier's lectures. This great speaker has now become a great writer as well. The book is well written, and really makes a person think, which is its purpose.

I can't recommend this book enough. It is one of the best books that I have ever read. It was great! Profound, yet fun. It deals with the most important questions: if God created the world what is its purpose, and if God created me, what is my purpose. I can't think of any more important question that needs to be addressed. And this book does it an amazingly moving way. I recommend this book to anyone is looking for answers. It addresses so many of the basic issues of life. It reawakened in me a joy for daily living, the section about the smell of oranges really hit home. It is trully a phenomanal work. I am now reading it for the third time. Rabbi Shafier, thank you. Mark Goldberg Oak Park, Michigan
